THE ORGANIZATION:

St. Vincent's is a Roman Catholic organization sponsored and operated by the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, which provides programs for children, families, and seniors that are based on community needs. St. Vincent’s is the longest continuously operating human service agency in Santa Barbara. St. Vincent’s began operations in 1858.

PURPOSE :

In accordance with the goals, objectives, and the Mission of the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, the Development Events Manager oversees the Development Department in all fundraising, donor relations, social media, and special events activities. On some occasions, this position requires work on evenings and weekends. The position represents the Mission, Vision, and Values of St. Vincent’s to all public entities through their daily responsibilities, as well as through all other communications required by, and specific to, assigned responsibilities in the Development Department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Demonstrate passion and commitment to the Mission and the Vincentian Core Values of St. Vincent’s and the Daughters of Charity.
• Create an atmosphere of enthusiasm and energetic commitment, and serve as a role model in carrying out the Mission.
• Promote and support the attitudes, behaviors, knowledge, and skills necessary to work respectfully and effectively with one another, and demonstrate the ability to address the needs of those St. Vincent’s
• serves.
• Perform a broad range of administrative support for the Development Department, including word processing, transcription, correspondence, reports, presentations, and mailings.
• Assist with donor, foundation, and grant research.
• Assist with grant preparation, information gathering, and the preparation of materials for submission.
• Assists with record keeping and donor database, organizing and maintaining appropriate filing system for correspondence and all other documents; regularly updates the master mailing contact lists used for the annual appeals.
• Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of St. Vincent's Annual Golf Charity Classic and Annual Fashion Show & Luncheon.
• Coordinate silent auction procurement, sponsorship materials, event communications, and event logistics.
• Creates marketing collateral and coordinates St. Vincent's Annual Appeals campaign.
• Regularly updates social media accounts; edits and enhances visual marketing materials like photos prior to publication on social media.
• Processes and records all incoming donations and contributions with attention to detail, taking all possible precautions to protect donor privacy and security of personal financial information.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for sponsors, vendors, donors, volunteers, and community partners for major fundraising events.
• Support and coordinate Capital Campaign initiatives, including meeting materials, donor communications, reporting, and campaign-related events.
• Assist in planning and coordinating archival exhibits and historical events that promote St. Vincent's history and mission.
• Manage multiple fundraising projects and community engagement initiatives while maintaining donor stewardship responsibilities.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A bachelor’s degree is required in Communications, English, journalism, or a related field.
• Two years of administrative experience in a nonprofit environment is preferred.
• Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills while providing outstanding customer service.
• Ability to handle confidential donor/client information.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Must possess excellent skills in writing, editing, transcription, and word processing.
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
• Must possess exceptional time management and detail-orientation skills.
• Ability to work independently with a strong level of organizational skills.
• Is conscientious in follow-through on job requirements and has the ability to be a self-starter.

Additional Requirements

• Criminal background check, including fingerprinting.
• Pre-employment examination and Proof of a negative TB test
• COVID-19 vaccination (required as a condition of employment)

Position Details

• Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
• Compensation: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 annually

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position also requires adequate vision (close, distance, and peripheral) and the ability to adjust focus. Occasional driving may be required.
