Access Associate

Job Title: Access Associate Department: Admissions Location: RRH United Memorial Medical Center - North Street Campus - 127 North Street, Batavia, NY 14020 Hours Per Week: 22.5 Schedule: 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM, Every other weekend SUMMARY: In a customer service oriented manner, interviews patients and/or their representative to collect required registration data, to include but is not limited to; demographic and financial data as well as obtain required signatures, communicates mandated patient information and verifies all information for accuracy. Process includes but is not limited to insurance verification, obtaining precertification/authorization, co-payment collection and communicating with patient and/or their representative with regards to their financial assistance needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manages incoming calls while providing necessary information.
• Greeting of patients and/or their representatives and providing direction as needed.
• Scheduling and/or prescheduling patient appointments.
• Interviewing the patient and/or their representative for necessary information and completing the registration process as defined by departmental policy.
• Identification of services where no payment source has been identified to be followed up by communication of financial assistance and/or payment arrangements.
• Verification of insurance eligibility/coverage and obtaining necessary precertifications/authorizations when applicable.
• Collecting/processing co-payments, deductibles and/or other types of payments. Provides an estimate of cost when applicable.
• Ensures the accuracy of all data collected while meeting the regulatory requirements as outlined by the departmental policy.
• Communication with external customers such as but not limited to; payers, physician offices and other departments.
• Accurately sets up new patient record via Care Connect.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associates Degree preferred.
• 1 year of customer service experience preferred.
• Intermediate computer skills preferred.
• Customer Service and communication skills preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Sedentary - Sedentary roles are primarily office-based and require prolonged sitting (67-100% of the workday) with minimal physical effort and lifting limited to under 10 lbs. Fine motor skills are necessary for computer work, writing, and telephone use, supported by clear visual and auditory ability. Cognitive and emotional demands are high due to extended concentration, frequent interruptions, independent decision-making, and information processing. Although physical exposure is low, administrative areas within healthcare environments may occasionally involve contact with infectious agents. Some roles may require flexible hours, TB screening, or a valid driver's license.

PAY RANGE: $17.85 - $20.00 The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, clinical licensure date, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
