Accounting Policy Finance Manager-CFO Group

Job Description This position is responsible for managing the day‑to‑day financial reporting, analysis, and risk mitigation of the domestic U.S. Bank Agency regulatory reporting and accounting policy. Key duties include establishing controls and processes to ensure accurate reports to external regulators, interpreting regulatory guidelines to support accurate financials, and maintaining expertise in reporting requirements to support precise records, ensure compliance, and identify efficiencies. Responsibilities Manage preparation, review, and analysis of data in financial reports. Execute key financial and process controls, including trend analysis, variance analysis, and cross‑report reconciliations. Drive identification, remediation, monitoring, and escalation of issues impacting financial statements or reports. Establish relationships with data owners across multiple lines of business to support complete and timely data submissions. Provide subject‑matter expertise for data quality improvement and sourcing automation projects. Guide interpretation of complex regulatory requirements. Adapt to changing demands and requirements. Provide complex accounting guidance on transactions involving debt securities, derivatives, hedge accounting, and leasing. Review new products and complex structured transactions; participate in internal product review committees. Maintain and update the Corporation’s Accounting Policy Manual for assigned areas. Implement new accounting standards, primarily U.S. GAAP. Assist SEC Financial Reporting and Legal Entity Controllers in developing financial statement disclosures. Monitor and interpret emerging technical issues related to U.S. GAAP and regulatory capital standards, and participate in comment letters. Lead in‑house education sessions on SEC and GAAP reporting requirements. Advocate on behalf of the bank with standard‑setting bodies and industry organizations. Review and/or write sections of SEC filings; draft comment letters and responses to SEC review comments. Interact directly with external and internal audit engagement management and staff. Required Qualifications 10+ years of accounting and banking experience, primarily in technical accounting advisory or banking accounting policy. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field. Strong understanding of accounting standards for financial instruments and Bank regulations, including SEC requirements. Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to present at all organizational levels. Self‑motivated with strong time‑management and organizational skills. Proven ability to work across teams to implement accounting standards and lead projects. Experience dissecting complex transactions, especially hedge accounting transactions. Desired Qualifications MBA or Master’s degree.
