Mathematics Adjunct

Olympic College

Position Overview The Olympic College is recruiting Mathematics Adjunct Faculty to teach introductory and advanced mathematics on a part‑time basis at all campuses. The position reports to the Dean of Mathematics, Engineering, Science, and Health (MESH). Positions are open continuously and are reviewed on a quarter‑by‑quarter basis. Applicants added to the pool are considered active for 12 months from the application date and may be contacted when vacancies arise. Responsibilities Prepare and teach developmental and/or college‑level mathematics courses. Provide high‑quality, enthusiastic instruction, including related preparation and grading. Provide course syllabi to students and to the division office as requested. Maintain accurate records of students and complete required forms and documentation. Maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate evening instruction and may include teaching at the Bremerton, Poulsbo, and Shelton campuses. Maintain clear and punctual communication with students, faculty, and staff. Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree in Mathematics required. Related Master’s degree with substantial graduate‑level mathematics coursework may be considered. Computer skills including Microsoft applications. Preferred Qualifications Successful experience teaching mathematics at a college or university. Experience with learning management system software such as Canvas. Successful Applicants will Effectively teach and communicate the principles of mathematics from arithmetic through differential equations. Demonstrate knowledge of alternative teaching methods, including the use of technology in instruction. Demonstrate knowledge of practical applications of mathematics. Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills in the classroom and with other professionals. Collaborate successfully with colleagues, staff, and students as part of an educational team. Effectively work with disadvantaged and disabled individuals. Demonstrate success working with individuals and groups representing a wide range of diverse cultural, geographic, and socio‑economic backgrounds. Demonstrate strong interpersonal and customer service skills, including building and maintaining internal/external customer satisfaction. Demonstrate an appreciation of diversity and a commitment to cultural awareness and sensitivity. Demonstrate an understanding of and a commitment to the Olympic College mission, vision, and values. Demonstrate ethics, integrity, and sound professional judgment. Salary Salary will be determined based on educational qualifications and applicable credits, in accordance with the college’s faculty salary schedule. Adjunct faculty are contracted on a quarterly basis, and a collective bargaining agreement applies. Benefits Adjuncts become eligible for benefits after working 50 % of a full‑time load for two consecutive quarters. Possible benefits include deferred compensation (DRS) retirement savings plan; TIAA supplemental retirement savings plan; sick leave; Aflac; tuition waiver (space available); Employee Assistance Program (EAP); fitness center; and reduced rate and priority consideration for on‑site childcare (space available). Conditions of Employment Prior to hire, a background check including criminal record history will be conducted. A Sexual Misconduct Disclosure Form must be completed as required by WB HB 2327. The employee must reside in Washington State within a reasonable distance of the campus. Frequent travel to Olympic College campuses or other sites may occur.
