Our field operations depend on reliable, well-maintained equipment to support drilling, sampling, and site investigation services.Position OverviewWe are seeking a skilled and dependable Diesel Mechanic to manage the inspection, maintenance, and repair of our fleet of trucks, trailers, and drilling equipment. This role is critical to ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and uptime for field crews.The ideal candidate has strong diagnostic abilities, experience with diesel engines and hydraulic systems, and a proactive approach to preventative maintenance.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel-powered trucks, trailers, and heavy equipmentMaintain and service drill rigs, compressors, generators, and related field equipmentDiagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine issues using appropriate tools and diagnostic equipmentDevelop and execute preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifeRespond to field service calls and perform on-site repairs as neededMaintain accurate service records, repair logs, and maintenance schedulesEnsure all equipment meets safety, compliance, and regulatory standardsManage parts inventory, order supplies, and coordinate with vendors as neededCollaborate with field staff and operations managers to prioritize repairs and maintenance needsAssist in equipment inspections, audits, and fleet management planningRequired Qualifications3+ years of experience as a diesel mechanic, heavy equipment mechanic, or similar roleStrong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and heavy equipment repairExperience working with construction, drilling, or geotechnical equipment preferredAbility to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic dataValid driver's license (CDL preferred or willingness to obtain)Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently and manage multiple repair prioritiesPreferred QualificationsExperience maintaining drill rigs or geotechnical/environmental field equipmentWelding and fabrication skillsFamiliarity with DOT inspection requirements and fleet complianceTechnical certification in diesel mechanics or related fieldKey CompetenciesDetail-oriented with a strong focus on safetyDependable and responsive to urgent repair needsStrong organizational and time management skillsEffective communication with both field and office personnelHands-on, solution-focused mindsetWork Environment & Physical RequirementsWork performed in shop and outdoor field environmentsAbility to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding tasksExposure to varying weather conditions and mechanical hazardsWhat We OfferCompetitive pay based on experienceComprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision)Paid time off and holidaysOpportunities for training, certification, and career growthStable, team-oriented work environment
