Seasonal Park Gate Attendant & Visitor Services

GATE ATTENDANT

Pay: $17.00 per hour. Temporary position (6 months or less). Employment starts 04/01/2026 through 09/30/2026. Customer service based position that involves greeting visitors, selling parks passes, answering phones, counting cash receipts, and providing information to the public. Daily interaction with park visitors requires effective communication and public relations skills. Work leader responsibilities over entrance attendants. Must be 18 years of age or older Must have a current and valid driver's license or reliable transportation or must have a current and valid driver's license required for operating a state vehicle Uniform items will be partially provided; employee may purchase limited items at own expense Applicants may be subject to successful completion of a comprehensive background check Must be willing and able to work 20 hours per week Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays Must be available to work varied shifts morning and evenings Preference may be given to applicants with or working towards a Natural Resources degree or similar education Previous experience handling money and working with the public is preferred/required Possess strong interpersonal communication skills to deliver excellent customer service Minimum 2 years of professional experience in a customer service setting Basic computer skills required/preferred (MS Office Suite, Google App Suite) Ability to work with limited supervision and work well within a team Must be willing and able to climb in and out of vessels and under trailers to perform job functions Must be willing and able to work outside which may involve inclement weather

VISITOR SERVICES

Pay: $17.00 per hour. Temporary position. Customer service based position that involves working in a visitor center or gate entrance, greeting visitors, or may be assigned to work in the field in specialized duties in some parks. Daily interaction with park visitors requires effective communication and public relations skills. Staff the park entrance station and/or the visitor center Provide information and assistance to visitors (distribute maps/brochures, orient visitors to park facilities and amenities, promote education programs, educate on State Park regulations) Provide information to the boating and non‑boating public Sell parks passes, permits, books, maps, clothing and other novelties May sell gift certificates, search and rescue cards, boat registrations, OHV registrations and snowmobile registrations, fishing and hunting licenses Operate a cash register Answer telephone inquiries and transfer/take messages Photo‑copy documents and file Collect revenue, complete shift report and balance shift box at end of each shift May prepare campground reservation forms and documents May document and report visitor complaints Clean and perform light maintenance duties of interior and exterior of gates, visitor center and/or offices, including litter pick‑up May assist with special events or programs within the park Other duties as assigned

OFFICE AID

Pay: $17.00 per hour. Temporary position. Customer service position that sells a variety of state park passes, hunting and fishing licenses, and other CPW products and retail items. Main line of contact for all visitors; responds to telephone inquiries and questions regarding hunting, fishing, and park use regulations. Staff the visitor center Provide information and assistance to visitors (distribute maps/brochures, orient visitors to park facilities and amenities, promote education programs, educate on State Park regulations) Provide information to the boating and non‑boating public Sell parks passes, permits, books, maps, clothing, firewood and other novelties May sell gift certificates, search and rescue cards, boat registrations, OHV registrations and snowmobile registrations, fishing and hunting licenses Operate a cash register Answer telephone inquiries and transfer/take messages Photo‑copy documents and file Collect revenue, complete shift report and balance shift box at end of each shift Prepare campground reservation forms and documents Document and report visitor complaints Clean and perform light maintenance duties of interior and exterior of visitor center and/or offices, including litter pick‑up May assist with special events or programs within the park Other duties as assigned NOTE: This position is up to 24 hours per week and up to six months in duration. School schedules can be accommodated.

PARK MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour. Temporary position (6 months or less). Responsible for general park maintenance and cleaning of public facilities including restrooms, vault toilets, picnic areas, day‑use sites, trails, etc. Operates routine maintenance on state‑owned vehicles and equipment. Provides and ensures quality customer service, facility maintenance, repair, and cleanliness, and provides information and assistance to visitors. May also assist with carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical work, general landscape duties, transporting materials and supplies, and perform other duties as assigned. Operates and performs routine maintenance on state‑owned vehicles and equipment Assures quality customer service and facility maintenance, repair, and cleanliness Provides information and assistance to visitors Landscaping, trail work Performs weed spraying Operating mowers, chainsaw, trimmers, small engines, OHV, and other equipment Hitching and towing trailers May assist with carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical work and transporting materials and supplies Performs other duties as assigned PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Position requires considerable use of arms and legs and moving the whole body: climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, handling materials. Lifting 50 lbs. May stand for 4 hours straight on busy days.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

Must be 18 years of age or older Must possess a current and valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation Must be able to work outdoors on weekends, holidays, and varied shifts Must be able to climb in and out of vessels and under trailers Successful completion and passing of background screening may be required Possess strong interpersonal communication skills (written and oral) Ability to work with limited supervision May be required to work at the ANS station for an 8‑hour shift and take lunch at the station Position is up to 20‑24 hours per week and up to six months in duration School schedules may be accommodated Some uniform items will be provided; employees may purchase limited items at their own expense

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Position requires considerable use of arms and legs and moving full body: climbing, lifting 50 lbs, balancing, walking, stooping, handling materials. May stand for 4 hours straight on busy days. Must be able to perceive color differences and hear verbal and radio communications.
