** Accounting Associate - Accounts Payable **

** Location: ** New York City, NY
** Schedule: ** Full-Time, TEMP TO HIRE
** Compensation: ** $35.00/hour
** Assignment: ** 6-Month Contract with Strong Potential for Permanent Hire

** About the Opportunity **

The Cyperus Group is conducting a search on behalf of a well-established nonprofit organization dedicated to providing housing and supportive services throughout the New York metropolitan area. This organization is seeking an experienced Accounting Associate with a focus on Accounts Payable to join its finance team.

This role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and has experience managing vendor payments, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting month-end and year-end accounting activities.

** Key Responsibilities **

• Process accounts payable transactions accurately and timely
• Review invoices and supporting documentation for proper approval and compliance
• Maintain vendor records, including W-9 documentation and tax-related files
• Assist with annual 1099 preparation and reporting
• Support payment processing activities, including check runs and electronic payments
• Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies and vendor inquiries
• Maintain organized electronic and physical accounting records
• Assist with financial reporting and other accounting projects as needed
• Ensure adherence to organizational accounting policies and procedures
• Collaborate with internal departments to support efficient payment workflows

** Qualifications **

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
• Minimum of 2 years of Accounts Payable experience
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial documentation
• Experience processing high-volume invoices and vendor payments
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and Teams
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
