Lead Fitter / Welder

Shifts Available:

• Day Shift: Monday - Friday 6:00am to 2:30pm
• Nights: Monday - Thursday 3:00pm to 1:30am - Plus a $1.00 shift differential

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Lead Fitter/Welder responsible for fabricating a variety of miscellaneous metal projects. This role involves cutting, fitting, and welding metal components using flame-cutting and hand-welding equipment while maintaining quality and safety standards.

Essential Functions

• Prepare, assemble, and tack weld parts and surfaces to be welded

• Maintain, organize, and keep work areas and equipment in proper operating condition

• Hand-weld and/or flame-cut equipment to join metal components

• Cut and scarf using an oxy-acetylene torch

• Perform structural welding using FCAW and SMAW processes

• Align and fit parts according to specifications using jacks, wedges, drift pins, pry bars, and hammers

• Properly assemble and disassemble weld setups

• Remove high spots and cut bevels using hand files, portable grinders, and cutting torches

• Reshape metal workpieces to meet specifications

• Perform additional duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of metal fabrication and basic shop equipment

• Proficiency in MIG welding with the ability to pass a welding test

• TIG welding experience is a plus

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints

• Strong adaptability and ability to work under pressure

• Ability to multitask and meet deadlines

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent

• Minimum of two years of experience in a structural welding environment

• Ability to pass a Fillet Weld Test

Physical Requirements

• Ability to move objects and provide physical support over extended periods without fatigue

• Frequently lift and move materials or equipment up to 50 pounds

• Requires constant movement, manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina
