Growing together.Position SummaryJoin our dynamic team as a Software Engineer and Technical/Team Lead for the Curo Medical Management Platform at Optum Technology. In this critical role based in Schaumburg, IL, you will own tech-ready delivery for platform implementations, ensuring close alignment with vital business commitments. You will drive operational excellence by maintaining 100% release success and 100% sprint predictability across engineering teams. Leading technical strategy, you will architect, solution, and design ahead of sprint planning in adherence with Technical Design Review decisions. Additionally, you will play a hands-on role in optimizing infrastructure utilization for existing volumes by fine-tuning user interfaces, middle-tier services, and database performance to minimize resource consumption while delivering an exceptional user experience.If you reside in Schaumburg, IL, you will enjoy the flexibility of an office-based role as you take on some tough challenges. Primary Responsibilities:Serve as the Engineer for the Curo Medical Management Platform, owning technical delivery for implementations aligned with business commitmentsMaintain 100% release success and 100% sprint predictability across engineering squadsSolution, design, and architect applications ahead of sprint planning cycles, ensuring full alignment with Technical Design Review guidelinesOptimize infrastructure utilization and resource consumption by fine-tuning performance across the entire application stack, including user interfaces, middle-tier microservices, and databasesDesign, develop, and deploy AI-powered features, integrations, and automated solutions to solve complex business problems, emphasizing the responsible and ethical use of AIEvaluate emerging technologies and AI trends to inform scalable solution design, system performance, and strategic platform innovationYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in CS or IT related field1+ years of software engineering experience developing enterprise-grade applications1+ years of experience with Java and Spring Boot (including Spring Data) within a microservices architecture1+ years of experience with React or Next.js (including Server-Side Rendering (SSR) and App Router) and component-driven UI library development1+ years of experience with relational database developmentPreferred QualificationsExperience with Python (FastAPI, Pydantic, async frameworks) and TypeScript/JavaScriptExperience integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) and utilizing advanced prompt engineering techniques to enhance applicationsFamiliarity with AI-assisted development tools (such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, or other enterprise AI coding assistants) to accelerate and optimize code deliveryExperience with modern UI styling tools (Tailwind CSS, Radix UI) and building reusable, accessible component librariesProven ability to mentor developers, lead technical design reviews, and establish architectural standards across teams*All Telecommuters will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy.Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
