About the Role

The Company is in search of a Chief Legal Officer to join its executive leadership team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all legal, regulatory, governance, and risk-management matters, and will serve as the principal legal advisor to the executive leadership and the Board of Directors. This role demands a strategic leader with a strong understanding of the legal and commercial issues impacting the financial services industry, particularly in the areas of private credit, specialty finance, and commercial lending. Key responsibilities include providing practical, business-oriented legal counsel on a wide range of matters, from lending transactions to regulatory compliance, and leading the legal, regulatory, and compliance functions across the organization. Applicants for the Chief Legal Officer position at the company should have a J.D. from an accredited law school, an active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, and a minimum of 9 years of legal experience, with a focus on financial services. The ideal candidate will have a background in negotiating and advising on lending transactions and credit facilities, as well as experience in financial services regulatory frameworks and risk management principles. The role requires exceptional communication, negotiation, and business judgment skills, and the ability to build and mentor a high-performing legal team. While prior in-house legal leadership experience is preferred, candidates from top law firms with substantial financial services practices will also be considered.
