As a Field Superintendent, you would play a crucial role in ensuring that all employees and subcontractors adhere to proper safety and security standards set forth by the company, while exceeding OSHA policies and procedures. You would be responsible for performing daily inspections of the job site, promoting a safety mindset among all employees, and rectifying any job site hazards immediately. Additionally, you would help maintain company tools, equipment, and vehicles, ensuring they are clean and running efficiently, and document all safety incident reports promptly.

Position Description

SAFETY:

• Ensures that all employees and subcontractors are adhering to proper safety and security standards set forth by the company as well as exceeding OSHA policies and procedures.

• Performs daily inspection of job site; promotes a job site safety "mindset" among all employees and rectifies job site hazards immediately.

• Maintain and keep company tools, equipment and vehicles clean and running efficiently.

• Documents all safety incident reports immediately by following company safety procedures.

SCHEDULE:

• Determine jobsite labor requirements and coordinate manpower needed .

• Plan and develop 3-week look ahead for manpower, equipment, and material needs.

• Establish and meet daily production goals

• Manage Foremen creatively in order to consistently improve production and exceed goals.

JOB PERFORMANCE / PRODUCTION / JOB COSTS:

• Manage Foremen and demand that production goals in bid are met on time.

• Take control of the job and insist that job is built within budget.

• Analyzes job site production levels and financial data daily.

• Report accurate production milestones of work complete and provide documentation.

• Utilize and maintain all equipment efficiently while getting most productivity and minimizing damage and wear.

• Monthly - turn in vehicle condition report.

QUALITY:

• Ensure that the project is built or completed according to plan specs while demanding the highest quality from Liberty employees as well as all subcontractors.

• Account for deviations and change orders as agreed upon by the owner / General Contractor and the Project Manager.

• Prepares schedules and supervises completion of a final punch list.

• Maintain a neat and organized job site that promotes pride, professionalism, productivity, and safety.

CUSTOMER RELATIONS:

• Maintains positive relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers, and other employees.

• Represent Liberty Excavators in professional manner while communicating either verbally or in writing with customers to complete projects on time and promote repeat business.

• Project a professional neat appearance at all times.

• Communicate with Liberty management and Project Managers continuously, especially in regard to key contract terms, materials needed, and production in order to minimize cost; therefore, maximizing margins.

LEADERSHIP / MENTORING / TRAINING:

• Model leadership, communication skills, decision-making, and delegating responsibilities to foremen and crews.
• Direct, mentor and evaluate Foremen, by providing on-the-job training and recognizing employees that stand out and exceed their performance standards.
• Perform evaluations and career development plans with Foremen identifying strengths, weaknesses, and setting newly defined goals.

CORE COMPETENCIES :

• Organization : Managing crews, equipment, and time while submitting required documentation while supervising job site.
• Excellent Communication Skills : Effectively written and oral communication with Project Management, Superintendent, operators, laborers, and clients.
• Problem Solving : Analyzes problems and makes sound decisions in a timely manner based on objectives, risks, implications, and costs.
• Interpersonal Skills : Tactful and mature demeanor with well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to work well with diverse personalities.
• Technical Skills : Must be able to read and interpret plans, instructions, and specifications to determine work activities

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the above stated core responsibilities.
• Leadership and interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving history.

PHYSICAL SKILLS, ABILITIES and WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust, concrete, and asphalt.
• Must be able to lift 75 lbs., push, pull or carry objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.
• Requires the employee to regularly use hands/fingers to handle, feel or operate controls, and reach with hands and arms.
• Frequently required to stand, walk, talk, smell and hear, generally loud conditions
• Occasionally required to walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
• Must have satisfactory visual aptitude and observation abilities.
• Cognitive ability to think, calculate, plan, and problem solve.
• Requires a need for quick decision-making, conflict resolution, and team building skills without supervision.
• Requires responsibility for confidentiality where negligence could have a significant impact on the company or its' employees

Supervisory Responsibilities Directly supervises employees and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include field testing, training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Position Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Commercial job site experience and knowledge of OSHA regulations preferred.
• Working knowledge of the methods, materials and tools used in site excavation and utility work.
• Excellent communication skills to be able to communicate with Project Management, crew, and client effectively and quickly.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors, and the public.
• Ability to drive and operate a variety of equipment under varying conditions.
• Ability to make independent judgments which have considerable impacts on the organization.
• Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.

The Superintendent plans, organizes and directs job site schedules and equipment needed to complete projects within specified time frame, while staying on budget, and meeting quality standards. The Superintendent we are seeking has the ability to see outside the box and anticipate opportunities to exceed expectations.
