Job Title: Step-Down Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Step Down Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:30) Experience: 2+ years of recent Step-Down experience License: Active Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Cardiac monitoring experience - Dysrhythmia interpretation and management skills - IV/Vascular management skills Description: Provide care for patients in a critical care step-down unit. Manage patients with diagnoses such as Congestive Heart Failure and respiratory failure. Administer post-heart catheterization care and monitor following vascular procedures. Perform frequent vital signs and neurovascular checks. Demonstrate proficiency in cardiac and emergency care. Utilize Pyxis medication systems for safe medication administration. Administer blood products and emergency medications as required. Provide procedural sedation and monitoring during specific interventions. Titrate cardiac drips and manage dysrhythmias effectively. Assist with chest tube insertion and removal as needed. Follow strict infection prevention protocols and isolation precautions. Maintain compliance with guidelines for phlebotomy and venipuncture. Work within a patient population requiring constant telemetry monitoring. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for optimal patient outcomes. Ensure comprehensive documentation in the electronic health record system. Adapt to the changing needs of patients within a high-acuity environment. Demonstrate critical thinking skills and independent decision-making capabilities. Support best practices and adhere to safety regulations consistently.
