Courtroom Specialist (Bailiff) - Municipal Court

The Municipal Court provides equal access to justice, professional and impartial treatment, and the fair and timely resolution of all court matters. It maintains the public’s trust in the Court and protects individual rights guaranteed under the Constitution. Role Overview The Courtroom Specialist works directly with Court Supervisors, City Judges, and Hearing Officers. Responsibilities include performing court‑related clerical work, coordinating case flow and hearings, and supporting courtroom operations in both courtroom and jail settings. Key Responsibilities Assist Judges and Hearing Officers during arraignments, hearings, and jury proceedings. Interact with defendants, attorneys, witnesses, victims, jurors, police officers, and detention officers. Prepare dockets, set up courtrooms, ensure essential parties and materials are present. Record actions in the case‑management system, secure evidence, and file cases. Inform participants of procedures and court rules. Work standard Monday‑Friday hours for courtroom sections; jail court section requires flexible scheduling including weekends, holidays, and 4/10 work schedules. Minimum Qualifications Two years of experience performing court or law‑office related clerical tasks. Ability to work irregular hours, weekends, holidays, and evenings as required. Criminal background check and CJIS background standards compliance. Valid driver’s license and ability to operate personal or city vehicles for city business. Preferred Qualifications Experience with MVD or MVD records (third‑party provider acceptable). College coursework in business, public administration, criminal justice, or related field. Spanish fluency. Salary Pay Range: $22.61 – $36.84 per hour. Hiring Range: $22.61 – $35.08 per hour. Effective July 6: Pay Range $23.06 – $37.58 per hour; Hiring Range $23.06 – $35.78 per hour.
