The Intervention Specialist - Teacher will develop an appropriate individual educational program in multiple content areas for each student in the classroom. The Intervention Specialist - Teacher will focus on creating a learning environment that promotes student learning; assess student progress; and provide appropriate academic and behavioral interventions for each student. QUALIFICATIONS Ohio State Board of Education licensure as an Intervention Specialist: Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Intensive, or Ohio State Board of Education licensure in Education of theHandicapped Severe Behavior Handicapped Prior experience working with students with severe emotional disabilities preferred ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Establish an effective, classroom instructional program aligned with the Ohio Academic Content Standards Prepare daily lesson plans, plan strategies, and activities to meet identified needs of students, implement student individual education plan (IEP) Assess students, and evaluate student’s progress through the utilization of established procedures Demonstrate the ability to maintain an effective classroom management system, provide for special behavioral needs of individual students, and document/report all significant behavior Provide direction and guidance to instructional assistants through the discussion of established procedures, development of a daily schedule, and coordinated implementation of program goals and objectives Administer standardized achievement tests; evaluate, interpret, and apply results from standardized achievement tests; administer alternate assessments when appropriate.
