Registered Nurse Emergency Department

The Temp RN in the Emergency Department at Kaiser Permanente is responsible for assessing, planning, directing, providing, and evaluating nursing care for patients. This role is ideal for experienced RNs looking to work in a fast-paced environment.

What You'll Do

• Perform accurate multi-system assessments, including biophysical, psychosocial, and environmental needs.
• Develop an individual nursing plan of care sensitive to the developmental needs of the patient.
• Initiate appropriate measures based on protocol for managing medical and/or surgical patients.
• Evaluate assessment methods, plan of care, and patients' responses to treatment.
• Coordinate patient care activities and discharge planning with other departments and agencies.
• Document care accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Classify acuity levels of assigned patients and establish priorities for patient care.
• Utilize a multidisciplinary approach when appropriate.
• Accurately calculate and administer medications.
• Participate in unit quality assurance activities.

Requirements

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program

Experience

• Minimum nine (9) months of RN experience
• One (1) year of current ED experience or successful completion of the Kaiser Permanente New Grad Internship Program in the ED

Licenses & Certifications

• Current RN License in Oregon
• Basic Life Support required at hire
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support
• Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course or Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 6 months of hire
• NIH Stroke Scale Certificate within 3 months of hire
