Pharmacist

Black River Health is recruiting for a full-time pharmacist. This position is benefited, day shift, with a 7 day/on - 7 day/off work schedule to permit every other weekend as regularly scheduled days off. The desired candidate will have Cerner EHR, recent IV, and acute care experience. This position includes the hospital's generous benefits package.

Essential duties:

• Provides specialized pharmaceutical services to improve drug usage and therapeutic outcomes, including, but not limited to advising physicians on issues concerning drug therapy, the inherent toxicity of drugs, and their side effects, as well as assisting in the prescription of appropriate doses.
• Individualizes medication regimes using sound principles, accounting for pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic variations in drug absorption, distribution, metabolism, and elimination with responsibility for establishing and continually improving the delivery of pharmaceutical care to patients.
• Prepares and/or oversees the dispensing of prescription medications to patients and staff including the preparation of all IV admixtures prepared by certified technicians.
• Oversees and is responsible for the acquisition, storage, and distribution of pharmaceuticals within the organization.
• Processes prescriptions and oversees the pharmacy technician as part of the hospice prescription program and in the absence of the director.

Educational qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree (B.S) in a five-year pharmaceutical program from an accredited college of pharmacy
• Acute care residency desired or an equivalent experience in an acute care setting.
• Pharm D degree is desirable.
• Licensed to practice in the state of Wisconsin or eligible before starting work.
