Jack in the Box
Job Description Responsible for managing the overall operations of a Jack in the Box unit. Uses discretion in daily management decisions with accountability for ensuring effective execution of the Service Profit Chain (SPC) and Brand Promise. Develops team to provide excellent internal and external service, build restaurant sales and profit while ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities Internal Service: Recruit, select, train, develop, and evaluate restaurant employees. Monitor staffing levels, ensure training systems are implemented, identify internal candidates for management and Team Leader positions, and create an employee‑friendly, clean, and safe environment. Coach and recognize employees to achieve high performance. External Service: Manage daily activities to deliver exceptional guest experiences, ensure consistent food quality, and maintain brand image. Address guest concerns in a timely, professional manner and maintain brand standards of cleanliness and service. Sales & Profits: Use management information tools to analyze operational and financial performance, identify trends, implement improvement plans, and protect the JIB brand. Monitor costs, budgeting, and restaurant goals to drive profitability. Selection Skills & Qualities Fostering the Culture: Demonstrate passion for the business, uphold integrity and trust, communicate clearly, remain calm under pressure, and manage conflict. Training/Coaching/Development: Motivate and inspire employees, provide timely feedback, and promote development toward higher responsibility. Guest Focus: Passionate about high‑quality guest experience, understand guest perspectives, and deliver quality service in a fast‑paced environment. Food Quality/Safety: Strong awareness of food quality, safety, and restaurant cleanliness, and dedication to consistently serving great food. Business Management: Manage multiple demands, support change initiatives, make high‑quality decisions, delegate, and organize task priorities. Qualifications Education: High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred. Experience: Internal Promote: Minimum 1 year as Associate Manager and/or 2 years as First Assistant Manager with 100% workstation certification. External Recruit: Minimum 3 years managing a service concept with full P¬L responsibility. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Must be at least 18 years old; complete Restaurant Manager training; ServSafe certified; proficient in English; excellent interpersonal, math, analytical, organization, and planning skills; self‑starter and initiative‑bearing; computer and software proficiency; valid driver’s license, insurance, and personal vehicle for bank deposits and travel. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk 85%–95% of shift, lift 10–65 lbs, move freely, operate kitchen equipment and a motor vehicle, and use a computer keyboard.
