Supervising Buyer

The Job

The Purchasing Department is recruiting for a Supervising Buyer who plans and supervises the activities of a procurement unit; reviews and approves purchase orders and contracts; performs complex negotiations and value analysis; is involved with policy recommendations and legal matters; and makes and carries out challenging purchasing decisions. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Travel: A valid California Class C Driver License is required to carry out the essential job-related functions of this position. Mileage reimbursement and proof of automobile liability insurance must be maintained.

Minimum Requirements

CANDIDATES MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION - Must possess a completed/awarded Bachelor's degree in purchasing/supply management, business/public administration, economics, accounting, finance or related field.

EXPERIENCE - Must possess four (4) years of (full-time equivalent) direct buying experience for goods and services AND one (1) year of lead or supervisory experience.

SUBSTITUTION - A Master's degree from an accredited institution in a qualifying field may substitute for one (1) year of the experience requirement.

EDUCATION - Qualifying degrees or coursework must be completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education.
