Field Equipment Technician

About the Role This position is a full‑time Forklift Field Technician / Mechanic located in Ronkonkoma, NY. The responsibilities include preventive maintenance, diagnosis, repair, customer service, independent workload management, paperwork, vehicle and parts inventory, and other duties. Benefits Company van (parked at home each day) Company fuel card Company paid cell phone Tool insurance Paid time off Paid holidays Outstanding benefits package including Dental, Vision, and 100% employer paid Medical insurance premiums, plus much more 401(k) with match Competitive wages Company uniforms provided Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance on customer forklifts and other material handling equipment Diagnose and repair all forms of customer equipment Complete each repair job in a timely, efficient and professional manner Provide exceptional customer service Work and manage workloads independently Properly complete and submit all required paperwork Manage company vehicle and on-board parts inventory Perform other duties as assigned Maintain consistent, regular and reliable attendance, including being ready for work at the designated start time Qualifications Two years of previous forklift repair experience is highly desired, including experience in the Military, Guard or Reserve with an MOS or NEC code of 63B, 63H, 63S, 63W, 63Y, 91B, 91H, 91L, 91M or CM Previous field experience is highly preferable Strong working knowledge of electric and liquid propane units Excellent mechanical aptitude Possess own tools Must have a clean driving record and valid driver’s license to drive company vehicle Computer programs: HYPASS, Hyster TKC training software, and Yale/Hyster contact management system Language skills – intermediate reading, interpreting safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, writing reports, and speaking effectively before groups Mathematical skills – basic arithmetic with money and measurement units Reasoning ability – intermediate, applying common sense to instructions and problem solving Physical Demands / Work Environment Stand, walk, use hands, reach; talk/hear; occasionally sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl No special vision requirements Lift up to 10 lbs regularly, 11‑25 lbs frequently, 26‑100+ lbs occasionally; frequent bending and prone positions required Work near moving mechanical parts, fumes/particles, outdoor weather, wet/humid conditions, extreme cold and heat, electrical shock, vibration Compensation Pay range: $25.00 to $45.00 per hour. Base pay only, no benefits or bonuses included. Overall compensation will be determined based on geographical location, skill set, education and experience.
