This contract opportunity is for a dedicated special education professional to work in a high school functional curriculum classroom. The role begins as soon as possible and extends through May 26, 2027, with strong potential for renewal based on performance.

This position is designed for someone who thrives in a collaborative setting, as you’ll work alongside two paraprofessionals and a Registered Behavior Technician, providing comprehensive support to students with significant needs in a self-contained classroom. You’ll play a vital role in delivering adapted instruction, developing individualized education plans (IEPs), and fostering a positive, supportive atmosphere for all learners.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Possess an active Special Education GaPSC Certification with content coverage through 8th grade
• Adapted Curriculum Endorsement required (candidates pending credentials will also be considered)
• Previous experience with self-contained or lower functioning special needs students strongly preferred
• Strong classroom management and communication abilities
• Commitment to collaborative practice with support staff

Primary Responsibilities:

• Design and implement functional curriculum lessons aligned to student needs and IEPs
• Monitor progress and maintain accurate documentation for each student
• Collaborate closely with paraprofessionals and RBT to deliver consistent behavioral and academic support
• Communicate regularly with families and school staff to foster student success
• Support a respectful, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment
