Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive speech-language pathology evaluations for acute care patients in a corrections setting and develop individualized treatment plans.
• Provide therapy addressing speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders; document progress and adjust plans as needed.
• Perform bedside assessments and therapy sessions; monitor patient response while adhering to infection control and safety protocols.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (nursing, physicians, case management, social work) to coordinate care and discharge planning.
• Educate patients and, when appropriate, families or caregivers on communication strategies and safe swallowing techniques; support functional communication goals.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record; ensure confidentiality and compliance with facility policies.

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted Speech-Language Pathologist license or credentialing as required for the assignment jurisdiction
• Ability to obtain and maintain credentials required for travel assignments
• Experience in acute care settings preferred; experience in a corrections environment is a plus
• Strong documentation skills and proficiency with electronic health records
• Ability to work in a correctional setting and comply with security and safety requirements
• Availability to work guaranteed 35 hours per week on a 5x8 day schedule
