POSITION SUMMARY
The Sewing Operator operates a sewing machine and produces the assigned product in each area as per the quality standards and requirements of the customer.
ESSENTIAL ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Prepare and operate sewing machine in a safe and efficient manner.
- Stitch Awareness and Review Per Inch (8+-1).
- Sample review and/or product photograph (depending on the style that is running on the line).
- Handle sewing and construction of garments according to the assigned operation and within the established times and standards (collar, reflective, bag, etc.)
- Verify the quality of the material and identify defects in the fabric and seam.
- Follow instructions from the Supervisor when there are product changes, as well as in the construction of samples.
- Follow the directions and instructions of the Sample Leader of the Design area.
- Meet daily production expectations by following the production plan
- Collaborate with other departments when needed.
- Perform other job functions related to the position as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. is preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the production area; textile industry desirable.
- Experience operating sewing machines (home or industrial).
- Good skill making alterations; knowledge of patterns preferably.
- Effective communication and positive attitude to work in a team.
- Ability to follow instructions and adapt to a fast-paced work environment.
- Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple sewing projects as assigned in an efficient manner.
- Meet the physical requirements of the position; sitting for a long period, standing, walking, and being able to lift to 10 pounds when needed.
