Staff Accountant IIThe Richmond Behavioral Health Authority has two full-time positions available for a Staff Accountant II to perform intermediate skilled technical work preparing and processing journal entries, analyzing and processing bank deposits, managing fixed assets and processing depreciation, reconciling bank revenue, analyzing financial statements in accordance to GAAP and compliance to company policy, analyzing and preparing account general ledger reconciliations, processing travel requests and credit card invoices, preparing 1099 miscellaneous statements to vendors in accordance to Internal Revenue Service, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under supervision of the Senior Accountant.Job Duties:Analyzes financial statements in accordance with GAAP and compliance with internal policiesPrepares month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing journal entriesPrepares work papers, financial statements and various reports for auditors and internal staffPrepares month-end preliminary and final reports for agency/staffReceives edits for month-end reports and prepares journal entries as neededDevelops a thorough understanding of the operations of the reporting units assigned. Assists the agency staff to understand their financial reports, recognize trends, and identify missing or misclassified transactions.Analyzes and prepares GL account reconciliations as neededDevelops a thorough understanding of, monitors and maintains systems, procedures and policies including accounts payable functions to ensure adherence to company guidelinesAssists Senior Accountant/Financial Reporting Analyst with proper expenditure coding, documentation and other accounting related activitiesActs as a liaison with regional finance departmentsMonitors regional invoices and payments to facilitate accurate reconciliation and regional reportingReconciles Federal GrantsManages fixed assets and processes depreciationServes as currier when needed and as directedServes as back up to Staff Accountant I as neededServes as back up to Senior Accountant/Financial Reporting Analyst as neededResearches transactions, accounting guidance, and regulations as assigned by the Senior Accountant/ Financial Reporting Analyst, Controller or CFOAssist Senior Accountant with unclaimed checks/property and process associated reporting to the StatePerforms other duties as directed by the Controller or CFOPosition Requirements:Bachelor's degree in accounting, or in finance or business administration with coursework in accounting, and at least two years of accounting experience.Excel skills a must.Special Requirements: Valid driver's license in the Commonwealth of VirginiaFull-Time/Part-Time: Full-TimeAbout the Organization:Richmond Behavioral Health Authority (RBHA) is licensed by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services and is the statutorily established public entity responsible for providing mental health, intellectual disabilities, substance abuse and prevention services to the citizens of the City of Richmond.Our Mission:RBHA promotes health, wellness, and recovery for the people and communities we serve.Our Vision:An inclusive, healthy community where individuals are inspired to reach their highest potential.Our Values:Equity / Innovation / Quality / Inclusion / Accessibility / Transparency / Compassion / IntegrityCreating Healthy Communities - One Person, One Family, One Community at a time.
