Accounting Manager (Construction)

Accounting Manager (Construction) On-Site: 5x a week Location: Roswell/Alpharetta Compensation: $75,000-90,000/year Key Responsibilities Accounts Payable (AP) Oversee full-cycle AP, including vendor invoice processing, coding, approvals, and payment scheduling Ensure subcontractor invoices, lien waivers, insurance certificates/COIs, and compliance documents are properly collected and validated Maintain accurate job cost allocations and ensure expenses are posted to the correct project and cost code Accounts Receivable (AR) Prepare and submit customer billings, including progress billings, AIA-style invoices, and change order documentation Monitor collections, follow up on outstanding receivables, and resolve billing discrepancies Track retention and ensure timely release and collection Project Accounting (25‑35 Active Projects) Maintain accurate project financials, budgets, and cost‑to‑complete reporting Work closely with project managers to review job cost reports, forecast cash needs Cash Management Monitor daily cash flow and prepare short‑term and long‑term cash forecasts Manage outgoing payments to optimize cash position while meeting vendor and subcontractor obligations Coordinate with leadership on cash strategy and financial planning Bank Reconciliations & GL Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for all accounts Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate posting of all transactions Reconcile balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies promptly Month‑End Close Lead the month‑end close process, including journal entries, accruals, and financial statement preparation Support quarterly and year‑end reporting, audits, and tax preparation Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred) 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or project‑based industries (required) Strong understanding of job costing, WIP schedules, and construction billing formats (required) Proficiency with construction accounting software (Sage 300, Viewpoint, Foundation, QuickBooks Contractor) (preferred) Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills (required) Ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment (required) Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco by Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
