System Manager for Avionics xEVAS Spacesuits

RESPONSIBILITIES

Serve as the System Manager and Subject Matter Expert for Avionic Projects in the Avionic System Division at NASA Johnson Space Center working with NASA's Commercial Partnerships for the next generation spacesuit and commercial low earth orbit space station. Perform Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) activities including requirements, interfaces, verifications, and integrated performance throughout project lifecycle across internal and external organizations. Assess and document design compliance of NASA agency project requirements to commercial providers. Maintain and update requirements including Verification Requirements and Interface Requirements Documents. Track and maintain requirement documents on task schedule. Track and report financial data for the project to the customer in presentations and document tracking systems. Support the verification activities including verification objectives and procedures, end to end testing development and reviewing Verification Completion Notices. Develop and support sub-project requirement and verification data packages to support architecture requirements, design, verification/validation, operations, and sustaining engineering tasks. Conduct product life cycle reviews, coordinate integration, verification, and validation activities. Review verification and validation reports to verify compliance with project requirements. Participate and contribute to System Requirements Reviews (SRR), Mission Concept Reviews (MCR), Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR) and Critical Design Reviews (CDR). Perform and review system level architecture trade studies and analyses that will influence the overall electrical design and performance. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED

This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. Must have 5+ years of recent and related work experience. Knowledge and understanding of SE&I processes, methodologies, tools, and technologies including model-based systems engineering. Knowledge of test principles, tools, and processes needed to develop test requirements. Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the space hardware field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, and material selection. Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings.

DESIRED

Knowledge of Flight Hardware and/or Flight Processes/Paperwork. Familiarity with DOORS application. Experience with ISS, Orion and/or NASA processes and requirements.

WORK LOCATION

This position is located onsite. This position offers a 9/80 schedule, every other Friday off. This position may require some travel.

BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED

Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite. All Bastion's employees must be team players. Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in written form, with internal and external customers. Able to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives. Must have a strong work ethic and must be safety culture oriented. Must be organized with good time management skills. Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task. Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time). Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
