Clinical Laboratory Technologist -Tissue Typing Night Shift

Position Summary At Stony Brook Medicine, a Clinical Laboratory Technologist is a valuable member of our team, providing clinical services to our patient population. Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior patient care and possess outstanding communication skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence. Duties Line responsibility for preparation (assessing specimen acceptability) and testing (routine and STAT) of tissue samples for human histocompatibility testing procedures for solid organ or hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Testing includes HLA typing by serological and molecular methods (SSP & SSO–Luminex), serum HLA antibody detection (screen ID and SA by Luminex) and donor–recipient crossmatch (AHG–CDC) testing. Report any problems to lead tech, lab supervisor, or lab director. Follow all quality control/assurance and safety protocols, including reagent preparation, equipment maintenance, documentation, attendance at laboratory re‑certification class and continuing education requirements (12 credit hours annually). Support 24/7 coverage of lab services to organ transplant programs. Assist in setting up equipment and procedures, modifications and updates of existing procedures and development of overall departmental procedure manuals. Assist in development and implementation of a routine preventative maintenance program for equipment in the clinical laboratories. All other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications SL‑1: NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility including provisional/limited permit with 0–2 years of relevant experience. SL‑2: NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility including provisional/limited permit with 3–5 years of relevant experience. SL‑3: NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility including provisional/limited permit with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience. Preferred Qualifications Experience in molecular tissue typing and molecular engraftment analysis. Certification as a Histocompatibility Technologist by the American Board for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics, CHT (ABHI) or as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP). Documentation of histocompatibility work experience in an ASHI/CAP accredited laboratory performing high‑complexity testing under CLIA ’88 Regulations as currently modified. Salary and Compensation The salary range for this position is $89,142 - $113,055 per year. The specific offer will be based on validated years of comparable experience. Additional compensation may include location pay ($4,000), night shift differential ($15,000), evening shift differential ($10,000), and inconvenience pay ($575).
