Clinical Laboratory Technologist - Core Laboratory - Per Diem

Position Summary Stony Brook Medicine seeks a TH Clinical Laboratory Technologist / Technician who delivers high-quality clinical services to our patient population. Candidates will maintain expertise in safe laboratory practices as endorsed by the New York State Department of Health and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, ensuring the safety of all lab personnel. Strong patient‑care focus, communication skills, and adherence to our high standards of excellence are essential. Duties Line responsibility for the performance of clinical analyses in the Department of Laboratories. Perform routine instrument maintenance and troubleshooting according to established protocols to ensure proper instrument performance. Adhere to all quality control policies and procedures. Proficient in computer protocols as assigned. Perform high‑complexity coagulation/chemistry testing using both manual and automated methods. Perform assays requiring multiple dilutions with impeccable technique. Assist in implementing and validating new procedures. Engage in continuing education, including attendance at conferences and off‑site training whenever possible. Inter­act professionally with nursing staff, physicians, support staff, peers, and other members of the hospital community. Perform other clinical duties as assigned. Provide required pass days, including alternating weekends; pass days and holidays as assigned. Qualifications Required SL‑1: NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility with 0‑2 years of relevant experience. SL‑2: NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility with 3‑5 years of relevant experience. SL‑3: NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or documented eligibility with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience. Preferred Generalist with a strong background in Hematology and Chemistry. ASCP Certification. Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology, Biological or Life Sciences. Master’s Degree. Pre‑Employment Requirements Successful completion of a pre‑employment physical examination and medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine Employee Health Services. Completion of an electronic reference check with a minimum of three professional references. Successful completion of a four‑panel drug screen. Meet regulatory requirements for pre‑employment screenings. Provide copies of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s). Anticipated Pay Range The starting salary range for this position has been established as $68.98 per hour. The specific salary offer will be based on the candidate’s validated years of comparable experience.
