Overview Certified Surgical Tech III – Labor and Delivery at Knapp Medical Center – Weslaco, TX. Position: Per Diem, Nights, 12‑Hour Shifts. The CST III leads advanced case preparation, assists surgeons by maintaining a sterile field and anticipating procedural needs, mentors surgical technologists, and promotes best practices in patient safety, infection control, and regulatory compliance. Knapp Medical Center is a not‑for‑profit hospital with 227 beds, offering specialties including emergency care, orthopedics, obstetrics and gynecology, wound care, surgery, cardiology, gastroenterology, critical care, and interventional radiology. Responsibilities Prepare sterile supplies and instruments for each assigned procedure, maintain the sterile field during the case, and provide the surgeon with necessary equipment. Work as a primary scrub technician with at least 1 year of experience and proficiency in General Surgery, Urology, Eyes (cataracts), GYN, Hand specialties, basic spine procedures (laminectomies), sports medicine, orthopedic total joints, and complicated revisions (ACL replacement, rotator cuff repairs, revision knee/hip/shoulder, total ankle and total femur replacements). Demonstrate independent practice and hold a current Certified Surgical Tech (CST) certification. Qualifications Graduate of a Certified Surgical Tech accredited program; less than one year of experience required. Certified Surgical Tech (CST) certification upon hire; non‑certified employees hired prior to 12/2014 are exempt. Current Basic Life Support (BLS‑AHA) certification upon hire and maintained. Experience and mastery in scrubbing minor and major procedures in the listed specialties and in basic spine and orthopedic surgeries. Employment Status Per Diem. Shift Nights.
