This is a part-time, seasonal, stipend position. The Middle School Cheer assistant coach must have the ability to jump, stunt, dance and cheer. TCA utilizes sports and competition to teach transformational, life-giving biblical truths to each student-athlete. As a coach at TCA you will not only help student athletes improve their athletic ability, but you will also remind them of the importance of academics, instill a Christian work ethic (Col. 3:23) and help strengthen their faith in Christ.General ResponsibilitiesAttend Middle School cheer practices during football and basketball season (3-4 per week)Assist Middle School Cheer Head Coach in planning and organizing practicesAssist Middle School Cheer Head Coach in planning warm-up, conditioning, cheerleading drills for practiceAssist Middle School Cheer Head Coach in choreographing and teaching pep rally routines (2 routines)Assist Middle School Cheer Head Coach in choosing and approving music for pep rally routinesAttend pep rallies that Middle School Cheer performs at (2-3)Assist in documenting and planning weekly character lessons with Team ChaplainAttend all Middle School Football games (home and close away)Alternate attending all Middle School basketball games (home and close away)Assist Middle School Cheer Head Coach to teach jumps, stunts, cheer techniques and dance routinesAssist with fittings and ordering for all cheer uniforms for Middle School, JV and VarsityAssist Varsity Cheer Head Coach and JV Cheer Head Coach, and Middle School Cheer Head Coach with cheer tryouts and parent meetings for Middle School, JV and VarsityAttend Summer Cheer camp (first week of summer)Attend Work Week in August to prepare for upcoming seasonAssist with managing miscellaneous items (logistics, travel, ad sales, etc.)Assist in organization and presentation of parent meetingsCoordinate with Middle School Head Coach to communicate with parents on a weekly basis (scheduling, updates, etc.)Required Education, Experience and QualificationsA strong commitment to the positive development of the cheer program at TCAAbility to instill teamwork and community within a group of girls pointing them to ChristExcellent verbal and written communication skillsKnowledge of the sport of cheerleading (jumps, cheers, stunts, tumbling, etc.)Ability to build a good rapport with students and parentsPhysical, Mental and Environmental RequirementsRegularly works inside but some outdoor time required for games and practicesAbility to reach, bend, stoop, push and pull itemsAbility to demonstrate basic jumping, stunting, dancing and cheeringAbility to move items weighing up to 20 lbs.
