Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing the firm's day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with legal industry accounting standards, and supporting firm leadership with financial analysis and decision-making. This position plays a key role in managing general ledger activities, trust accounting compliance, month-end close processes, budgeting, and financial reporting for partners and management. The ideal candidate possesses strong accounting expertise, exceptional attention to detail, and experience working in a law firm or professional services environment. Responsibilities Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports. Maintain and reconcile the general ledger. Lead month-end and year-end close processes. Analyze financial results and provide variance analysis. Manage attorney trust (IOLTA) accounts and ensure compliance with state bar regulations. Perform monthly trust account reconciliations. Perform all bank reconciliations each month. Support internal and external reviews and/or audits. Ensure vendor payables or processed timely and in accordance with guidelines. Prepare ad-hoc financial reports for CFO and Managing Partner. Review billing and collections activity. Analyze realization, utilization, and profitability metrics. Assist with special projects and strategic initiatives. Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA preferred but not required. Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting experience; law firm or professional services experience preferred. Technical Skills: Strong GAAP knowledge, accounting software proficiency, advanced Excel skills, budgeting and forecasting experience.
