Pay Grade: Starting at $13.73 per hour
Hours / Schedule: 11:30am to 1:30pm / 2 hours per day / 5 days per week / School Year / 38 weeks
Job Summary
Enable students, through meaningful playground leadership, to enjoy group interaction and physical exercise, which is a part of the educational program.
Qualifications
- Good health
- Reliable and punctual
- Strong desire to help children
- Prior experience working with children desirable
- Knowledge of proper first aid procedures
Essential Job Functions
- Supervise students at playtime and maintain established safety standards
- Organize group games and activities
- Assume responsibility for children playing safely on playground equipment
- React properly to injuries and administer first aid
- Promote fairness and good sportsmanship
- Check playground equipment and weather conditions for safety
- Direct movement of students to and from the playground
- Complete disciplinary reports for incidents of serious or repetitive misbehavior
- Other duties as assigned
Evaluation: In accordance with the Administrative Support Staff Agreement on evaluation.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; those activities where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
- Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and making fine discriminations in sound.
- Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
- Standing: Remaining upright on the feet particularly for sustained periods of time.
- Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
- Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met
- Clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or less (i.e., working with small objects or reading small print), including use of computers.
- The worker is subject to both environmental conditions: Activities may occur inside and outside.
- The worker should provide consistent and reliable attendance.
- Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
