Job Description

Position: Bilingual Paraprofessional & Community Liaison
Reports to: Principal


Salary Range: $40,000 - $48,000

**Some nights and weekends may be required, however mostly standard workday**


General Description: : Support teachers and students through tutoring, progress monitoring and instructional support. Connect with students, families and organizations in the local Hispanic community.


Primary Responsibilities

• Assist with presentation of lessons related to the high school ELL curriculum
• Provide academic support to students individually and in small groups
• Assist teachers and students to overcome language barriers in the classroom
• Maintain and record weekly engagements with assigned students
• Support the teacher in maintaining a classroom environment that is safe, well-ordered and conducive to student learning
• Check student progress and understanding frequently through curriculum monitoring, group discussions/activities, and 1-1 conversations
• Meet with students regularly to discuss their goals, needs and academic progress
• Communicate with parents and other family members regarding student progress, needs and concerns
• Assist in student recruitment and retention activities, especially in the Spanish-speaking community
• Provide translation services for meetings between students, families and staff
• Follow additional directives and assignments given by the principal

• Fluency in written and oral Spanish

• Highly organized

• Ability to implement effective instructional strategies
• Proficient in computer applications

Qualifications

• Associate Degree (Bachelor's Degree Preferred)
• Satisfactory completion of criminal history check
