Cost Estimation Engineer

Role Description The Estimator role at Maven Packaging is a full-time, on-site position based in Huntsville, AL. The Estimator is responsible for reviewing customer drawings, specifications, and inquiries to develop accurate cost estimates for custom packaging projects. Day-to-day tasks include analyzing materials and labor requirements, preparing detailed quotations, and working closely with sales and production teams to ensure estimates align with customer expectations and manufacturing capabilities. The Estimator will update and maintain pricing data, track project changes, and support order planning to ensure profitability and timely delivery. This role also involves communicating with customers and internal stakeholders to clarify requirements, address questions, and support continuous improvement in estimating practices.

Qualifications

• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and customer requirements, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials (foam, plastics, wood), and packaging design or a willingness to learn these areas.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets and business software for estimating, pricing, and documentation; comfort with data entry and numeric analysis.
• Strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple quotes and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with sales, production, and customers.
• Ability to work on-site in Huntsville, AL, and collaborate with team members across functions.
• Problem-solving mindset with the ability to identify cost-effective solutions and suggest alternatives when needed.
• Prior experience in estimating, manufacturing, packaging, or a related field is beneficial but not required.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical or business education is a plus.
