Dean of Students

Dean of Students Hampton University – Hampton, VA Reporting to the Vice President for Administrative Services, the Dean of Students manages, oversees, and directs the efforts of several departments in the Student Affairs Division, including the Student Success Center, Freshman Studies Office, the Intramural Sports Program, the Office of Student Activities, Judicial Affairs and Housing, and Residence Life. Responsibilities Develop and oversee ongoing orientation for new and continuing students, and implement programming and support services for all students. Enhance programming in the residence halls to support the residential life component. Serve as a resource to students, faculty, staff, and administrators. Act as the after-hours and weekend contact for emergencies. Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Administrative Services. Requirements Master’s degree in College Student Development, Administrative Service, or a related field. At least five years of experience working with college students. At least five years of supervisory leadership or comparable experience working with diverse populations. Qualifications The position requires an energetic and creative leader with demonstrated skills in writing, leadership, management, and collaborative work. The candidate must be student-centered, accessible, and open to students. They must be able to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and administrators, and serve as a liaison between student affairs and academic affairs. The incumbent must be able to lead change when necessary, be committed to continuous improvement, and have a clear understanding of growing trends in student affairs with documented evidence of success working with college students. #J-18808-Ljbffr IMDiversity
