Staff AccountantEmployment Type: Direct HireLocation: Laurel, MDSchedule: 5x onsiteCompensation: $75,000-$100,000Benefits: This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, and 401kAbout the OpportunityOur client, a growing organization with a collaborative, hands-on accounting team, is seeking a Staff Accountant to support a broad range of accounting functions. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, taking ownership of processes, and contributing across multiple areas of accounting.Key ResponsibilitiesProcess accounts payable activities, including invoice review, payment preparation, vendor reconciliations, and resolving billing discrepancies.Support accounts receivable processes, including collections follow-up, account research, reconciliations, and resolution of past-due balances.Assist with customer invoicing, including invoice preparation, distribution, and issue resolution.Perform cash handling, deposits, cash reconciliations, and banking-related activities.Prepare general ledger account reconciliations and assist with month-end close activities.Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and day-to-day accounting issues.Collaborate closely with the accounting team to maintain cross-training and backup coverage across key functions.Cross-train in payroll processing to provide support as needed.Assist with additional accounting and administrative responsibilities as assigned.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.3+ years of hands-on accounting experience supporting multiple accounting functions.Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and general accounting principles.Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, SUMIF, and formula-driven reconciliations.Experience working with accounting, ERP, or financial systems.Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing priorities.Ability to independently research and resolve issues while communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.Comfortable working within a small team environment where collaboration and cross-training are expected.Preferred QualificationsExperience with Sage or similar accounting software.Exposure to Salesforce or CRM platforms.Process improvement experience.Ability to adapt to changing priorities and evolving business needs.Interest in leveraging technology, automation, or AI tools to improve accounting processes.Payroll experience or willingness to learn payroll functions.Ideal CandidateThrives in a small-company environment.Takes a hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves approach to work.Enjoys learning new processes and wearing multiple hats.Values teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.Why choose Addison Finance & Accounting?Benefits & Bonuses: You are eligible for medical, dental, vision insurance benefits, 401K, and monetary bonusesPermanent Employment: Many of Addison's Finance & Accounting job openings lead to potential permanent employmentConnections: You connect directly with hiring managers from renowned organizationsOptions: You are presented multiple employment options near your homeProfessional Development: You are provided hiring process advice, resume revision, and employment term negotiationAddison Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
