We are seeking experienced Aircraft Powertrain Repair & NDI Advisors to support current and future Training Assistance Field Team (TAFT) programs worldwide .
This position provides an opportunity for an experienced aviation powertrain maintenance professional to continue serving the aviation community by providing technical expertise, maintenance instruction, troubleshooting assistance, Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) support, mentorship, and advisory services to international partner-nation aviation organizations.
Position SummaryThe Aircraft Powertrain Repair & NDI Advisor (15D) serves as a technical aviation maintenance advisor responsible for providing instruction, mentorship, troubleshooting assistance, NDI guidance, and technical expertise to partner-nation aviation maintenance personnel responsible for aircraft powertrain systems.
The advisor will provide subject matter expertise in aircraft powertrain maintenance, including transmissions, gearboxes, drive shafts, drive systems, rotor drive components, associated powertrain assemblies, inspections, troubleshooting, repair, component replacement, and maintenance documentation .
The position also supports Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) activities used to identify cracks, defects, structural damage, material degradation, wear, and other conditions that may affect aircraft component serviceability.
Working directly alongside international military aviation maintenance organizations, the advisor will assist partner-nation personnel in developing safe, effective, and sustainable powertrain maintenance and NDI capabilities while promoting sound military aviation maintenance practices, technical standards, safety procedures, and quality-control disciplines.
Primary Responsibilities- Serve as an Aircraft Powertrain Repair & NDI Advisor to FMS partner nations.
- Provide technical instruction and mentorship to international aviation maintenance personnel responsible for aircraft powertrain maintenance.
- Provide classroom and hands-on instruction covering aircraft powertrain systems, components, maintenance procedures, inspections, troubleshooting, servicing, repair, and component replacement.
- Provide technical guidance on aircraft transmissions, gearboxes, drive shafts, drive systems, rotor drive components, and associated powertrain assemblies.
- Assist maintenance personnel with identifying, troubleshooting, isolating, and correcting powertrain-related discrepancies.
- Provide instruction on powertrain system operation, component limitations, maintenance requirements, and applicable inspection criteria.
- Assist with powertrain component removal, installation, inspection, servicing, repair, and replacement as applicable to the assigned aircraft.
- Provide instruction on scheduled, preventive, and corrective powertrain maintenance procedures.
- Provide Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) instruction and technical mentorship to partner-nation maintenance personnel.
- Assist with NDI inspections and evaluation of aircraft powertrain components for cracks, fractures, corrosion, material defects, wear, and other conditions affecting component serviceability.
- Apply appropriate NDI methods and procedures in accordance with applicable technical manuals, maintenance publications, and established inspection requirements.
- Assist partner-nation personnel in interpreting NDI inspection criteria and determining appropriate maintenance actions in accordance with approved technical data.
- Provide instruction on proper preparation, inspection, documentation, and reporting of NDI findings.
- Assist in identifying recurring powertrain and NDI-related maintenance issues and developing corrective actions.
- Assist partner-nation personnel in interpreting and applying applicable technical manuals, maintenance publications, work packages, engineering instructions, and technical data.
- Provide instruction and mentorship on aircraft forms, maintenance documentation, inspection records, NDI documentation, and technical reporting requirements.
- Advise maintenance leadership on powertrain-related aircraft readiness, maintenance effectiveness, technical issues, NDI findings, and operational concerns.
- Support maintenance training, qualification, progression, and continuation training requirements.
- Provide instruction on aviation maintenance safety, tool control, Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention, hazardous material procedures, and maintenance risk management.
- Assist with aircraft inspections, maintenance evaluations, component inspections, and powertrain maintenance assessments as directed by program leadership.
- Support troubleshooting and fault isolation of aircraft powertrain systems and associated components.
- Assist partner-nation personnel in developing effective powertrain maintenance planning and scheduling practices.
- Mentor aircraft mechanics, powertrain technicians, NDI personnel, maintenance supervisors, and other aviation maintenance personnel.
- Assist partner-nation aviation organizations in establishing standardized powertrain maintenance and NDI procedures.
- Provide guidance on proper use, care, inspection, calibration, and accountability of specialized powertrain and NDI tools and equipment.
- Assist with maintenance activities associated with aircraft induction, fielding, acceptance, modification, and operational sustainment as required.
- Assist with the development of powertrain and NDI maintenance lesson plans, training materials, presentations, and technical training programs.
- Identify maintenance and NDI training deficiencies and provide appropriate corrective instruction and remediation.
- Promote aviation safety, maintenance discipline, quality control, NDI integrity, and technical compliance throughout all advisory activities.
- Conduct training and advisory activities in accordance with applicable military regulations, technical manuals, aviation publications, safety requirements, NDI standards, and program directives.
- Foster strong professional relationships while supporting the objectives of U.S. Government Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programs.
- Support strategic international aviation modernization programs.
- Continue serving the aviation community by mentoring allied military aviation maintenance personnel.

- Former U.S. Army 15D Aircraft Powertrain Repairer or equivalent U.S. military aviation powertrain maintenance professional.
- Documented experience performing, supervising, or supporting aircraft powertrain maintenance .
- Experience maintaining, troubleshooting, inspecting, servicing, removing, installing, or repairing aircraft powertrain components and associated systems.
- Demonstrated Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) experience supporting military aviation maintenance.
- Working knowledge of applicable NDI methods, procedures, inspection criteria, and technical documentation.
- Strong knowledge of aircraft powertrain systems, components, operating principles, maintenance procedures, and applicable technical publications.
- Experience conducting scheduled, preventive, and corrective aircraft powertrain maintenance.
- Experience interpreting and applying U.S. military aviation technical manuals, maintenance publications, NDI requirements, and technical data.
- Experience with aircraft maintenance forms, records, inspection procedures, NDI documentation, and maintenance records.
- Understanding of military aviation maintenance standards, safety practices, and quality-control procedures.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, instructional, communication, and mentorship abilities.
- Ability to train and mentor international military aviation maintenance and NDI personnel with varying levels of technical experience.
- Ability to identify powertrain and NDI deficiencies and provide effective corrective guidance.

- Previous experience supporting Security Assistance Training Management Organization (SATMO) or Training Assistance Field Team (TAFT) programs.
- Previous Foreign Military Sales (FMS) aviation maintenance advisory experience.
- Previous experience supporting international military aviation organizations.
- Significant experience working with U.S. military turbine-powered rotary-wing aircraft .
- Previous experience as a senior powertrain mechanic, powertrain maintenance supervisor, technical inspector, NDI technician, or aviation maintenance team leader .
- Extensive experience with aircraft transmissions, gearboxes, drive shafts, drive systems, rotor drive components, and associated assemblies.
- Experience conducting or supervising Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) activities on military aircraft.
- Experience with multiple NDI methods applicable to aviation maintenance.
- Experience working in AVUM, AVIM, or depot-level maintenance environments.
- Experience troubleshooting aircraft powertrain systems and associated components.
- Experience supporting aircraft powertrain fielding, modernization, or international aviation programs.
- Experience developing or managing aviation maintenance, powertrain, or NDI training programs.
