Trauma Registrar

About the Role We are seeking a highly skilled and independent Trauma Registrar for a 13-week contract. In this role, you will play a critical part in maintaining the trauma registry, ensuring data accuracy, and supporting state and national reporting requirements. This is a fast-paced role requiring a dedicated professional who can hit the ground running with minimal training. Please note: Direct experience with TraumaBase is strictly required for this position. Key Responsibilities Identify trauma patients for inclusion in the Trauma Registry. Abstract trauma patient data accurately utilizing TraumaBase. Assign ICD-10 and AIS codes and calculate Injury Severity Scores (ISS). Validate registry data, resolve edits, and maintain overall trauma registry quality and data integrity. Support NTDB, TQIP, NORTR, and state reporting requirements. Identify and document Performance Improvement (PI) opportunities. Generate essential reports for the Trauma Committee and leadership teams. Maintain strict compliance with hospital policies, HIPAA guidelines, and regulatory standards. Required Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Experience: 3–5+ years of dedicated Trauma Registry experience. Systems: Direct, hands-on experience with TraumaBase is strictly required. Coding: 2+ years of AIS coding experience within a Trauma Registry, plus ICD-10 coding and ISS calculation experience. Work Ethic: Ability to work independently with minimal onboarding or training. Must be fully dedicated to this assignment during scheduled working hours (concurrent employment is only acceptable if it does not overlap with the required 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM ET schedule).
