Personal Care Assistant

Responsibilities Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using proper manual handling and patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts. Monitor patients’ health by taking vital signs, observing changes in condition, and reporting findings to healthcare professionals promptly. Support medication administration and ensure adherence to care plans while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy. Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning to meet individual dietary needs, including specialized diets for dementia or Alzheimer's care. Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and ensuring infection control standards are upheld. Provide emotional support through compassionate communication, engaging residents in activities that promote mental stimulation and social interaction. Assist with transportation and accompany clients to appointments or community outings as needed, ensuring their safety at all times. Requirements Prior experience working in group homes, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home health environments is highly preferred. Demonstrated ability to observe patients carefully and recognize signs of distress or changes in condition. Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, hospice care, and neurodevelopmental disorders enhances your effectiveness in this role. Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional training such as HIPAA compliance or medication administration is a plus. Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform manual handling tasks; experience working with residents requiring Hoyer lifts or other patient transfer methods is advantageous. Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and teamwork within multidisciplinary care settings. Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends or evenings as needed; experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities or intellectual disabilities is beneficial.
