Material Handler - Inventory / Cycle Counting

CHL Systems is hiring a Material Handler / Cycle Counter to support inventory accuracy, material flow, and production efficiency in our manufacturing and yard operations. This is a hands‑on role for someone with material handling experience who can safely operate equipment, accurately track inventory, and help ensure materials are received, stored, staged, and delivered to support production needs. This role is best suited for someone who is detail‑oriented, safety‑focused, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced industrial environment. The ideal candidate will bring experience with cycle counts, inventory reconciliation, forklift or side‑loader operation, and handling heavy materials such as steel or industrial components. Success in this role requires a high level of accountability, accuracy, organization, and the ability to work independently while supporting production, purchasing, and other cross‑functional teams. Competitive compensation with growth opportunities Weekly pay Medical, dental, vision, PTO, paid holidays, and 401(k) with company match Stable, family‑owned manufacturing company with 65+ years in business Safety‑focused, team‑oriented shop environment Opportunity to support meaningful hands‑on work in a custom manufacturing environment What You’ll Do Inventory Accuracy & Cycle Counting Maintain inventory accuracy through scheduled cycle counts, accurate data entry, and prompt discrepancy resolution Verify that physical inventory matches ERP/system records Investigate and reconcile inventory discrepancies Conduct root cause analysis to identify inventory variances and support corrective actions Enter and maintain accurate inventory data in the ERP system Perform ongoing partial inventory audits without disrupting operations Maintain high inventory accuracy levels and meet cycle count performance expectations Coordinate and support material handling activities to meet production schedules Move, organize, and stage heavy steel materials and finished products Load and unload materials using forklifts, side loaders, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment Assist with receiving, stocking, and issuing materials Ensure materials are properly labeled, identified, stored, and tracked Maintain organization and accuracy of yard and warehouse inventory locations Support continuous improvement efforts related to inventory accuracy and material flow Safety, Equipment & Team Support Operate forklifts, side loaders, and other industrial equipment safely and responsibly Obtain and maintain company forklift/side-loader certification Follow all OSHA, company safety, and PPE requirements Communicate clearly with supervisors, production team members, purchasing, and other internal teams Follow oral and written instructions accurately Support general shop, yard, and warehouse needs as assigned What We’re Looking For Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent 2+ years of material handling or inventory experience in a manufacturing environment Experience with cycle counting and inventory reconciliation Forklift or side-loader experience Ability to identify and differentiate materials accurately Ability to follow oral and written instructions Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Basic math skills, including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing units of measure Ability to read and interpret written information and basic drawings Comfortable using computers and inventory management systems Ability to operate material handling equipment safely and accurately High level of accuracy in documentation, data entry, and reporting Comfortable working in a hands‑on manufacturing, warehouse, and outdoor yard environment Preferred Qualifications Additional certifications in logistics, inventory control, forklift operation, or related areas Experience working with ERP or inventory management systems Experience handling heavy materials, steel, or industrial components Experience operating overhead cranes or other industrial material handling equipment Experience supporting receiving, stocking, issuing, staging, or yard inventory operations This Could Be a Great Fit If You Take pride in keeping inventory accurate, organized, and easy to locate Are comfortable working around steel, heavy materials, equipment, and active production areas Enjoy a role that combines hands‑on material handling with inventory control responsibilities Pay close attention to details and follow through on documentation Can work independently while staying aligned with production and team needs Are safety‑focused and comfortable following equipment and PPE requirements Like solving practical problems related to material flow, inventory discrepancies, and organization Want a stable role where your accuracy and reliability directly support production Work Environment & Physical Requirements This is an on‑site role in a manufacturing, warehouse, and outdoor yard environment Work is performed around moving mechanical parts, heavy equipment, forklifts, side loaders, overhead cranes, and active production areas Regular standing, walking, reaching, handling, bending, and movement throughout the facility and yard is required Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. in a steel manufacturing environment Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods Exposure to loud noise, dust, fumes, vibration, weather conditions, and typical industrial shop or yard conditions may occur PPE must be worn in designated areas, and all safety procedures must be followed Requires good vision and focus for identifying materials, verifying inventory, and operating equipment safely Operation of forklifts, side loaders, and other industrial material handling equipment is required About CHL Systems For more than 65 years, CHL Systems has been a trusted leader in designing and manufacturing custom automation and material handling solutions.
