Job Title: Psychiatric Care Technician – 3NP Harding Department: Harding | 3NP Adult Inpatient Psychiatry Location: Harding Hospital (0165) Position Type: Regular Scheduled Hours: 36 Shift: Varying Shifts Position Summary The Wexner Medical Center at The Ohio State University and OSU Harding Hospital are committed to enhancing the quality of care our patients receive. The Psychiatric Care Technician (PCT) functions as a member of an interdisciplinary team that includes the Staff Nurse (RN), the Unit Clerical Associate (UCA), and other supportive staff. The PCT works collaboratively with patients, families, and team members to achieve patient care outcomes, maximize patient involvement in their own care plans, improve service levels, reduce length of hospitalization, and decrease costs. Responsibilities Maintaining a therapeutic milieu. Reinforcing patient education. Maintaining safety. Emergency preparedness. Infection control. Information management. Reporting patient’s complaints to the patient’s assigned nurse. Implementing age‑specific interventions. Reporting patient behaviors indicative of fall risk. Technical Skills Recording and transmitting EKGs, specimen collection, phlebotomy skills, and Accucheck. Applying therapeutic holds and restraints in physical crisis situations. Operating specialty beds, assistive equipment, and mechanical lifts and scales. Performing clerical functions, as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High school graduate or equivalent education and experience preferred. Previous patient care experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred. Strong customer service, organizational, and time‑management skills. Successful completion of PCA training course required after hire.
