THE ROLE

Senior Safety Coordinator

We're looking for a Senior Safety Coordinator to join our QRC1 returns team. This is a senior individual contributor role for someone who has already run safety on a floor and is ready to own the harder, higher-consequence work: workers' compensation case management, the site's high risk standards, OSHA recordkeeping, and audit record governance. Reporting to the Workplace Safety Manager, you will be the site's subject matter expert on regulatory recordkeeping and injury case management, represent safety in Daily Business Review, facilitate the Weekly Safety Review Board, and lead continuous improvement projects that reduce risk rather than just document it. You will also serve as a mentor and escalation point for Safety Coordinators. This role suits someone who wants ownership, is comfortable holding operations leadership accountable, and can move between the floor and the file cabinet with equal credibility.
Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end workers' compensation case management for the site: first report of injury, claim intake, documentation, coordination with the third-party administrator and occupational health providers, and claim closure.
• Manage modified duty and return-to-work programs, including restriction tracking, accommodation placement, and regular check-ins with injured associates and their Area Managers.
• Serve as the site owner for the high risk standards - including powered industrial trucks (PIT), lockout/tagout, working at height, energized equipment, material handling, and trailer/dock operations - driving program compliance, training verification, and corrective action closure.
• Own the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of OSHA 300, 300A, and 301 forms, and multi-year retention.
• Build and maintain the site's audit record management system: audit schedules, completion tracking, evidence retention, corrective action documentation, and inspection readiness.
• Attend and participate in Daily Business Review as the safety representative, surfacing incidents, emerging risk, open corrective actions, and case status to operations leadership.
• Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis on serious injuries, high-potential near misses, and repeat findings; write the investigation report and verify corrective actions are effective.
• Own individual safety projects and continuous improvement initiatives from problem definition through baseline data, implementation, measurement, and standardization.
• Conduct and audit safety training including PIT, TDR, and Yard; verify certification status and drive compliance in partnership with the operations team.
• Partner with Area Managers and Operations leadership to reinforce safety accountability on the floor, and coach Safety Coordinators on investigation quality, audit rigor, and associate engagement.
• Drive measurable improvements across site safety metrics (Physical Compliance Audits, Shift Safety Score, Audit timely completion, Safety Observations, TRIR, and claim duration).
• Respond to first aid needs, support emergency response procedures, and perform additional duties as required to support a safe and compliant work environment.

Qualifications

Required:

• 4-6 years of progressive experience in workplace safety, preferably in a warehouse, fulfillment, returns, or manufacturing environment.
• OSHA 30 General Industry Certification.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience managing workers' compensation claims and return-to-work programs.
• Working knowledge of OSHA recordkeeping requirements (29 CFR 1904) and direct experience maintaining OSHA 300, 300A, and 301 forms.
• Experience owning safety programs and corrective action systems independently, not just executing tasks assigned by others.
• Proven ability to facilitate meetings with operations leadership and hold cross-functional owners accountable to commitments.
• Strong written communication skills; able to produce investigation reports, program documentation, and executive-level summaries.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage credibly with associates, Area Managers, and senior leadership.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays as needed.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) or Google Workspace.

Preferred:

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• ASP, CSP, CHST, OHST or equivalent professional safety certification (or active candidacy).
• Experience in a returns center, fulfillment center, or high-volume warehouse environment.
• Experience with safety management systems, claims management platforms, or incident tracking tools.
• Experience supporting or leading through an OSHA inspection or formal third-party safety audit.
• Experience mentoring or developing junior safety staff.
• Working knowledge of continuous improvement methodology (5 Why, A3, Kaizen, DMAIC).

Physical Requirements

Pay Range: $74,000 - $89,000

All posted ranges are reflective of base salary and may vary depending upon experience level and location. Bonus and equity may also be provided for eligible roles.
