Forescout Systems Engineer

Forescout System Engineer – supporting the Army National Guard (ARNG) at Falls Church, VA. The role is part of an IT Service Management program that modernizes, expands, and strengthens ARNG’s global IT services, covering networking, compute, storage, cybersecurity, and application hosting. Responsibilities Update the Forescout console with moved, added, or changed network subnet definitions for discovery. Troubleshoot various issues within the Forescout console, including discovery, network reachability, SNMP access to network devices, and device interfacing. Maintain the Forescout console to enable effective network discovery and monitoring. Analyze network traffic and review IP configurations to resolve Forescout communication issues. Generate reports, perform console updates, and create system diagrams using Microsoft Office and Visio. Respond to and manage tickets through ServiceNow, adhering to change‑management procedures. Provide outage notifications, inventory support, and regular network analysis to optimize performance and capacity planning. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and external partners to ensure operational efficiency. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity, information assurance, computer science, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent education, certifications, or experience). 5+ years of overall experience in cybersecurity, information assurance, or computer science. Expertise with LAN/WAN (MPLS), Cisco router/switch configuration (IOS & Nexus), DHCP, DNS, and Forescout platforms (eyeSight/eyeControl). Proven troubleshooting skills and the ability to deliver creative process improvements. Knowledge of federal/DOW contracts, ServiceNow ticketing systems, Network Access Control (NAC) via 802.1x, and remote equipment management. Strong interpersonal, communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills. Team‑oriented mindset with a strong customer‑service orientation. Dependable, meeting project deadlines and timelines. Experience presenting ideas clearly through briefings or training sessions to leadership. Ability to adapt quickly to changes in requirements and responsibilities. Certification Requirements Must possess the baseline certification to achieve DoW 8570.01‑M IAT Level II (CompTIA Security+ CE) prior to start. Must obtain an additional computing‑environment certification within six months of hire (e.g., CEH, CCNA‑Security, CND). When 8140 requirements are implemented on the program/contract, employees must also align with 8140 certification standards. Security Clearance Level Active SECRET security clearance required and must be maintained. Location Falls Church, VA. Three days onsite with up to two days telework.
