Behavioral Health Specialist Team Lead - QMHP Job Number: 26-12900 Job Summary: The Behavioral Health Specialist Team Lead is a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) who provides services, primarily in the community and clinic-based settings, as part of a multidisciplinary behavioral health team to coordinate care for adults. This Team Lead position is based out of the East 2nd Clinic and will provide client care as well as help with clinical administrative tasks. The QMHP Team Lead will be based out of the clinic but will provide services in the community as clinically indicated. The Behavioral Health Specialist participates completes assessment, and collaborates with individuals to define and facilitate desired life outcomes utilizing a recovery based and trauma-informed perspective. The Behavioral Health Specialist delivers therapeutic interventions and provides individual psychiatric rehabilitative skills training and crisis assessment/management in the consumer's home, clinic, or in the community environment. This service is provided through ongoing assessment, preliminary diagnosis, and ongoing treatment of a consumer's presenting Axis I psychiatric and co-occurring disorder under the supervision of the treating psychiatrist APN and the Program Manager. The position provides coordination of community resources to assist consumers in accessing medical, social, educational, financial and other appropriate services that help the individual achieve an improved quality of life, while decreasing the need for inpatient hospitalization and arrests. At this advanced level, consumer caseloads are complex and dynamic with increased need for crisis intervention, and the Behavioral Health Specialist helps individuals develop skills to manage symptoms, obtain/maintain employment and housing, and/or to obtain services such as medical care, nutritional assistance, financial assistance, transportation, legal assistance, and other resources to fulfill needs.
Qualified Mental Health Professionals (QMHP) embrace trauma-sensitive and informed practices, provide Suicide Safer care, and foster a supportive and welcoming environment. QMHPs operate in a dynamic environment, develop extensive knowledge of community resources, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and cultivate a clinical skill set by forging therapeutic relationships with community members and/or stakeholders. Interventions and services can be both office- and community-based and may require the use of a personal automobile. Individuals served may be diagnosed with mental illness, co-occurring substance use disorders, chronic health conditions, and/or IDD.
Staff members in this position are working under the supervision of a clinically licensed professional who provides ongoing evaluation and oversight of all assessments, diagnoses and treatment. At this level, clinical assignments may be of moderate complexity and are handled with considerable independence, and complicated cases receive closer clinical review and supervision. Services provided may include individual, family and/or group skills training using evidence-based interventions, crisis assessment, and case management. Work is performed under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Regular, predictable attendance is considered to be an essential requirement for this position. Other duties may be assigned. May require a flexible work schedule. - Graduated from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree with a major specialization in Human/Behavioral/Social Services or related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Current and valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Working in a mental health-related field.
