Job Title: Lead Carpenter / Mechanic – Commercial Interior Construction

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Lead Carpenter/Mechanic to oversee and perform commercial interior construction work focused on cold-formed metal framing, drywall installation and finishing, RF foil installation, and acoustical ceiling systems for interior buildout projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform precise layout and installation of 16-gauge cold-formed metal framing systems for commercial interior projects.
• Oversee and execute drywall hanging, taping, finishing, and punch-list completion to meet quality and schedule requirements.
• Install RF foil and other specialty wall and ceiling assemblies in strict accordance with project specifications and industry standards.
• Install acoustical ceiling tile (ACT) grid systems and ceiling tiles, ensuring alignment, fit, and overall finish meet project expectations.
• Review and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, specifications, and project schedules to plan and execute daily work activities.
• Coordinate daily work with project management, superintendents, subcontractors, and other trades to maintain workflow and resolve on-site issues.
• Ensure all work adheres to project requirements, safety standards, and quality control procedures.
• Assist with troubleshooting construction challenges in the field and propose practical solutions to keep projects on track.

Essential Skills

• At least 5 years of commercial carpentry experience, specifically in interior construction.
• Extensive experience with cold-formed metal framing, including layout and installation of 16-gauge systems.
• Proven ability in drywall hanging, taping, finishing, and completing punch lists to a high standard.
• Strong experience in acoustical ceiling system (ACT) installation, including grid systems and ceiling tiles.
• Hands-on experience with commercial interior buildout projects from framing through finishes.
• Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, shop drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
• Solid understanding of interior construction methods, sequencing, and coordination with multiple trades.
• Ability to coordinate and communicate effectively with project management, superintendents, subcontractors, and other trades.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Demonstrated skill in general carpentry for commercial interior construction.
• Experience with framing, hanging drywall, and related interior construction tasks.
• Proficiency in installing specialty wall and ceiling assemblies, including RF foil systems.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality finishes.
• Ability to work independently while leading and guiding others on daily tasks.
• Reliable work ethic and consistency in meeting project timelines and milestones.

Work Environment

This role is based on an active commercial jobsite at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA. The schedule runs from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday through Friday, providing consistent daytime hours. Work is performed in a secure, large-scale facility environment with ongoing interior construction activities, requiring coordination with multiple trades and adherence to site-specific protocols. The project work at this location is expected to continue through November, offering a focused timeframe to contribute to significant interior buildout work.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Arlington, VA.

The pay range for this position is $37.00 - $37.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
