Lifeguard

This is a part-time position only * Observes activities of patrons using water facilities, maintains safety conditions, participates in rescue operations, and renders first aid as needed; performs related duties as required. Under general supervision, the duties require prompt and effective action in emergency situations. Must be able to work weekends and evenings (until 9 PM). Qualifications Grade I A or B - Swimming Pool 1. Must be at least sixteen years of age prior to appointment. 2. Must be in satisfactory medical condition as attested to by a physician. 3. Must have at least 20/70 vision in one eye, corrected to 20/40. Grade II - Calm Water and Swimming Pool 1. Must be at least sixteen years of age prior to appointment. 2. Must be in satisfactory medical condition as attested to by a physician. 3. Must have at least 20/40 vision in one eye, without corrective lenses. Grade III - Ocean, Calm Water, and Swimming Pool 1. Must be at least sixteen years of age prior to appointment. 2. Must be in satisfactory medical condition as attested to by a physician. 3. Must have at least 20/40 vision in one eye, without corrective lenses. Special Requirements Continuing possession of the appropriate grade, current, valid lifeguard certificate issued by the Nassau County Department of Health or the Nassau County Department of Parks, Recreation and Museums. 2. Continuing possession of a current, valid CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer Certificate issued by the American Red Cross or a New York State Department of Health accepted equivalent certificate. Salary $16.40 per hour (starting - 1st year); $17.40 after 2 years; $18.40 after 3 years. #J-18808-Ljbffr
