- Swim Instructor## OverviewSalary Range$8.00 - $10.00 HourlyPosition TypePart TimeJob ShiftAny## DescriptionThe YMCA of Indiana County is looking for enthusiastic and dependable Swim Instructors to join our Aquatics team. Swim Instructors help participants of all ages build confidence in the water, develop swimming skills, and learn important water safety skills in a fun and supportive environment.Under the direction of the Director of Aquatics, Swim Instructors will plan and teach swim lessons following YMCA guidelines while creating a safe, positive, and welcoming experience for swimmers and their families.Responsibilities:* Teach swim lessons to participants of various ages and skill levels.* Provide instruction on swimming techniques, water safety, and skill development.* Create a positive and encouraging learning environment.* Monitor swimmers to ensure safety during all lessons.* Track attendance and participant progress.* Communicate with participants, parents/guardians, and supervisors.* Set up and put away lesson equipment.* Maintain a clean and safe pool area.* Follow YMCA policies and safety procedures.* Attend required trainings, meetings, and safety drills.Schedule:* Tuesdays: 6:00 p.m. – 8:15 p.m.* Thursdays: 6:00 p.m. – 8:15 p.m.* Saturdays: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.**Applicants should be available for these lesson times. Availability for Northern Cambria swim lessons on Saturday mornings is preferred.**## QualificationsQualifications:* Must be at least 14 years old.* Ability to swim proficiently and demonstrate swimming skills.* Previous experience working with children, teaching, coaching, or aquatics is preferred but not required.* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.* Dependable, responsible, and able to work as part of a team.* Ability to remain in the water for extended periods and assist swimmers as needed.* Commitment to the YMCA values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, and Teamwork.Required Clearances and Certifications:* FBI Fingerprint Clearance (Department of Human Services)* Pennsylvania State Police PATCH Clearance* Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance* Mandated Reporter Training* Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certification (within 90 days of hire)* Great American Academy certifications (within 90 days of hire)Pay: $8.00–$10.00 per hour
