Project Manager, Office of the Chief of StaffThis position is based in Sacramento, CA and eligible candidates must be able to commute to our office a minimum of 3 days per week. The Technical Project Manager is a working title. The actual title for this job is Project Manager, Office of the Chief of Staff (CoS PM). In this role, you will be accountable for driving the execution of high-priority, cross-functional initiatives sponsored by executive leadership. You will also convert strategic direction into disciplined execution by enforcing timelines, dependencies, decision-making, and follow-through across teams. In addition, you will partner closely with the Chief of Staff to manage a portfolio of strategic and operational initiatives that span functions (Operations, Product, Sales, Finance, Facilities, etc.). You will not own functional teams, but own project rigor — planning, tracking, escalation, and delivery. The CoS PM is also responsible for maintaining visibility into initiative health, identifying risks early, driving accountability, and ensuring leadership decisions translate into measurable outcomes.RequirementsExecutive Initiative ExecutionManage end-to-end execution of executive-sponsored projects from kickoff through completion.Translate strategic priorities into clear scopes, milestones, owners, and success metrics.Maintain integrated project plans, decision logs, and dependency tracking.Shepherds New Product Introductions (NPI) to ensure the right teams are following the company process and engaged at meetings to ensure appropriate hand-offs.Portfolio Health & VisibilityTrack progress across multiple concurrent initiatives; surface risks, blockers, and trade-offs early.Prepare concise executive updates (status, risks, asks, recommendations).Ensure commitments made in leadership forums are tracked to closure.Cross-Functional CoordinationCoordinate stakeholders across departments to align timelines, resources, and deliverables.Drive resolution of cross-team dependencies without direct authority.Escalate issues with context, options, and recommended paths forward.Operating Cadence & RigorRun project operating rhythms (weekly check-ins, milestone reviews, executive readouts).Enforce standard work for project planning, documentation, and change control.Ensure decisions, actions, and outcomes are clearly documented and communicated.Continuous ImprovementIdentify patterns in execution breakdowns and recommend process or governance improvements.Support the Chief of Staff in evolving lightweight project management frameworks that scale with the business.Success Metrics% of initiatives delivered on time and within agreed scopeMilestone adherence and decision-cycle timeReduction in execution delays caused by unclear ownership or dependenciesExecutive satisfaction with visibility, clarity, and follow-throughClosure rate of action items from leadership meetingsCore CompetenciesStrong project management fundamentals (planning, risk management, dependency tracking, change management)Executive-level communication and judgmentAbility to influence without authorityHigh attention to detail paired with big-picture thinkingComfort operating in ambiguity with evolving prioritiesAt a Minimum You Should Have2-3+ years in project management, program management, or operations rolesExperience managing cross-functional initiatives in a fast-paced environmentStrong written and verbal communication skillsProven ability to manage multiple priorities with discipline and follow-throughExperience supporting senior or executive leaders preferredStructure, clarity, and calm to tackle complex initiativesIntuition to escalate early with recommendations, not just problemsA bias toward action, accountability, and measurable outcomesExperience operating with discretion, integrity, and trustThis position is based in Sacramento, CA and eligible candidates must be able to commute to our office a minimum of 3 days per week.
