Communications & Content Coordinator

PASS USA is seeking a Communications & Content Coordinator to lead communications strategy, oversee content direction, and strengthen the organization’s external visibility and public positioning. This starts as a Volunteer Opportunity and evolves to a PAID ROLE after 60 days of probation.

This role is ideal for someone who understands nonprofit storytelling, digital communications, social media marketing, and brand visibility. The selected candidate will help shape how PASS USA is seen and experienced externally across all platforms and communication channels.

While PASS USA already has a Social Media team, we are looking for a strong leader who can guide communication efforts strategically, coordinate messaging, identify visibility opportunities, and ensure consistent storytelling that reflects our mission and impact.

A major component of this role involves proactively identifying and executing opportunities that increase PASS USA’s visibility through media exposure, partnerships, collaborations, campaigns, events, speaking opportunities, and digital storytelling initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Communications & Brand Leadership

• Lead and oversee PASS USA’s external communications strategy
• Ensure consistent brand voice, messaging, and storytelling across all platforms
• Guide the organization’s public visibility and digital presence
• Coordinate communication efforts across departments and teams

Content Strategy & Storytelling

• Develop and execute strategic content plans across social media, newsletters, website content, campaigns, and public communications
• Shape compelling stories that communicate PASS USA’s impact, mission, and student journeys
• Oversee content calendars and content direction for the Social Media team
• Support campaigns related to fundraising, awareness, partnerships, and advocacy

Visibility & Public Relations

• Identify and pursue opportunities for increased visibility and public awareness
• Build relationships with media outlets, podcasts, collaborators, nonprofit communities, and strategic partners
• Coordinate publicity opportunities, interviews, speaking engagements, and awareness campaigns
• Support the organization’s positioning within the nonprofit and education sectors

Team Collaboration & Operations

• Work closely with leadership and development teams
• Participate in synchronized communication, reporting, and organizational updates
• Help maintain organized communication workflows and accountability systems
• Contribute to strategic discussions related to growth and organizational visibility

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience leading communications, content, or brand visibility for a nonprofit organization
• Understands nonprofit storytelling, audience engagement, and mission-driven communications
• Has strong writing, editing, and communication skills
• Is highly organized and comfortable managing multiple moving parts in a fast-paced environment
• Can think strategically while also executing consistently
• Has experience with social media marketing, digital campaigns, and visibility initiatives
• Is proactive, collaborative, and solutions-oriented
• Is comfortable working remotely with a distributed international team
• Can commit to working within Central Time (CT) coordination and communication structures

Work Environment

PASS USA operates as a fully remote team. Strong communication, timely updates, reporting, and collaborative coordination are essential to how we work.

If you do not enjoy synchronized communication, regular updates, or working in a highly collaborative remote environment, this role may not be the best fit.

Hiring Process

There will be two rounds of calls:

1. A brief introductory call with the Executive Director
2. A final 15-minute conversation with the Development Lead for shortlisted candidates
