Our Laboratories Functional Service Partnership (FSP) team plays a direct role in advancing drug development by creating sustained groups of talent within our customers’ organizations to provide long-term support. Through this collaborative approach, our professionals bring their commitment to excellence, industry knowledge, and operational strength directly into customer environments, helping to enhance capabilities and advance the delivery of life-changing therapies.

As part of our client’s Research and Early Development (gRED) organization, the Synthetic Molecule Pharmaceutics (SMP) department helps the client’s next generation of therapeutics transition from pre-clinical research into clinical development. Our team specializes in synthetic molecules and novel modalities (e.g., nucleic acids, peptides, conjugates) that are given to patients via parenteral routes of administration (e.g., intravenous, subcutaneous, intrathecal, intravitreal). We develop formulations, innovative drug delivery approaches, and manufacturing processes that help bring these novel therapeutics to patients across therapeutic areas.

We are seeking a collaborative, curious, and highly motivated Scientist to support parenteral formulation development and drug delivery in the Synthetic Molecule Pharmaceutics group. In this role, you will work independently to drive research and development efforts for novel oligonucleotide drug products.

Key responsibilities:

• Formulation Preparation: Independently prepare drug products and novel formulations utilizing a variety of different compositions.
• Analytical Characterization: Independently analyze formulations using a diverse suite of analytical techniques (including spectroscopy, rheology, chromatography, calorimetry, light scattering, and physicochemical property measurements) to assess structure, composition, and physicochemical properties.
• Data Analysis & Experimental Design: Review and process experimental data, identify key trends and takeaways, and propose hypothesis-driven follow-up experiments.
• Literature Research: Conduct literature research to interpret experimental results and guide development.
• Technical Communication: Present research findings and deliver technical recommendations to cross-functional teams within the Synthetic Molecule Pharmaceutics group.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in lab sciences such as Chemistry, Biochemistry, Material Science, Immunology, Biology, Molecular Biology or similar
• Scientist: Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 2+ years’)
• OR Masters degree
• Sr. Scientist: Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 4+ years’)
• OR Masters degree and previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 2+ years’)
• OR PhD

In some cases, an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Proven track record of working independently in a laboratory environment, preferably with experience focused on oligonucleotide or nucleic acid drug products.

Technical Skills:

• Foundational knowledge of pharmaceutical science, with a strong focus on solutions and colloids.
• Solid understanding of spectroscopic, rheologic, and calorimetric analytical techniques.
• Strong experimental execution and advanced data interpretation skills.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in California is $33.00–$37.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
