Senior Risk Manager (On-Site Position)

POSITION SUMMARY

As the Senior Risk Manager at New River Electrical Corporation (the "Company"), you will lead the Company's Risk and Insurance function and serve as a senior member of the Risk and Insurance Department. You will develop and manage the Company's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program, direct the day-to-day work of the Risk and Insurance team, and own the Company's insurance, claims, surety, and contract-risk functions. You will provide seasoned direction to the team, act as the primary point of coordination between the Risk and Insurance group and senior leadership, and lead a captive insurance company feasibility study. This position reports to the Senior Vice President, General Counsel and may be based in Strongsville, Ohio or Granville, Ohio.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Enterprise Risk Management

1. Develop, implement, and manage the Company's Enterprise Risk Management program, including risk identification, assessment, prioritization, mitigation planning, monitoring, and reporting to senior leadership.
2. Establish and maintain a risk register and supporting processes, and drive a consistent, organization-wide approach to identifying and managing enterprise risks.
3. Partner with leadership across finance, operations, safety, HR, and legal to embed risk management into business planning and decision-making.
4. Prepare and deliver periodic ERM reporting to executive leadership and, as directed, to the board or applicable committees.

Captive Insurance & Risk Financing

1. Lead the Company's captive insurance company feasibility study, including coordination with actuaries, captive managers, brokers, tax and legal advisors, and internal stakeholders, and present findings and recommendations to senior leadership.
2. Evaluate alternative risk-financing structures and retention strategies, and make recommendations on optimal program design.

Insurance & Surety Program

1. Own and administer the Company's insurance program, including property, general liability, auto, workers' compensation, professional/pollution, cyber, and excess/umbrella coverages, in coordination with brokers, carriers, and advisors.
2. Direct the annual insurance renewal process, including underwriting data collection, exposure analysis, application preparation, and coverage placement.
3. Oversee the certificate of insurance process (issuance to customers and collection/review from subcontractors and vendors) and the surety and bonding program, both primarily executed by the Risk and Insurance Specialist.

Claims Management

1. Oversee claims across all lines of coverage, including workers' compensation, primarily executed by the Claims Administrator, including intake, reporting, reserve monitoring, and coordination with carriers, third-party administrators, adjusters, and outside counsel.
2. Assist with claims and litigation management, including document collection and preservation, matter tracking, and coordination with outside counsel.
3. Assist with safety-related matters and labor and employment matters as needed, including support for incident investigations, regulatory responses, and document preparation.

Contract Risk & General

1. Oversee review of contracts, subcontracts, and customer agreements for insurance, indemnification, limitation of liability, and risk-allocation provisions, primarily executed by the Risk and Insurance Specialist, coordinating with the Legal Department on recommended positions.
2. Answer, track, and manage customer risk assessments, pre-qualification questionnaires, and vendor qualification submissions.
3. Draft, review, and prepare risk-related documents, including internal policies, procedures, and risk and loss reports.
4. Partner with the Senior Vice President, General Counsel and other members of the Legal and Compliance Department to develop risk and compliance training content and substantive templates for use across the organization.
5. Support compliance program administration, including policy management, monitoring activities, and risk and compliance reporting.
6. Conduct research on statutes, regulations, and industry standards relevant to the Company's risk exposures.
7. Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervise, mentor, and develop the Risk and Insurance team, currently consisting of two direct reports:

1. Claims Administrator, responsible for claims handling across lines of coverage, including workers' compensation.
2. Risk and Insurance Specialist, responsible for contract review, surety and bonding, certificates of insurance, and coordination with the Company's insurance broker.
3. Set priorities, provide daily direction and coaching, manage workload allocation, conduct performance reviews, and build the capability and capacity of the team as the ERM program matures.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Bachelor's degree required; degree in risk management, insurance, finance, business, or a related field preferred.
2. Minimum of 7 years of progressive risk management, insurance, or claims experience, including at least 2 years of direct supervisory or team-leadership experience. Construction, electrical, or industrial-sector experience strongly preferred.
3. Professional designation preferred: Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Certified Risk Manager (CRM), or similar.
4. Demonstrated experience building or managing risk programs; familiarity with recognized ERM frameworks such as COSO ERM and ISO 31000 a plus.
5. Experience with commercial insurance programs, renewals, certificates of insurance, and surety/bonding processes.
6. Experience overseeing claims management, including workers' compensation.
7. Experience reviewing contract risk-allocation provisions, including insurance, indemnification, and limitation of liability terms.
8. Captive insurance experience (feasibility, formation, or captive management) preferred.
9. Strong organizational and project management skills and high attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
10. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with senior management, business partners, and external stakeholders.
11. High ethical standards and professional integrity.
12. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and risk management information systems (RMIS) or comparable platforms.
13. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
